The bell rings and it means that school is over. Not going to say that I am relieved because this is only monday. And we still have next week and other weeks.. Argh! Thinking about it makes me more stressed than I was before.
"So, the bus or my car?" Meghan said to all of us.
"Your car. Most definitely." Cara and Annie said, almost at the same time. Weird, might I add.
"Nicole?" Meghan said, leaving Cara and Annie to stare at me with Annie mouthing "her car! her car!"
"Umm.. The bus will be fine, I guess. I'll be on my own." I said, not wanting to gossip and hearing about what sexual things they will do to the hot guys. Gross, I thought.
"You sure? Not wanting to discuss more about Jesse?" Cara said with a smile and all the 'ooh's' were coming out.
Jesse, ahah. I was relieved that I found out I wasn't in any classes with him. Well, at least for the first day. And, I didn't caught him staring at me again. Even at lunch! Hooray! My life is saved.
"No. I think we already discussed him enough on lunch." I said to them.
"Well then, suit yourself. Bye, Nicole, be safe!" Cara said.
"Watch out for the perverts okay. You don't want to be catching a phone under your skirt." Meghan said.
"You sure you're gonna be okay?" Annie said.
"Geez guys. It's like I never took the bus home before. And I will watch out for the perverts!" I said to them as they walked off and said bye one more time then into a group hug.
------
Waiting for the bus at the station took waay longer than I thought it would. 15 minutes and not even one bus is here yet? Give me a break.
I was bored so I checked my phone. The girls asking me if I'm home yet. Didn't bother to answer because the bus isn't even here yet.
There was someone sitting next to me all of a sudden but he was at the edge of the bench, while I'm at the middle.
I couldn't quite see his face because he was wearing a blue hoodie. I know that he was indeed from Meadow Mount because of his pants. Hmm.. hope it's not that Jesse guy.
The bus has arrived.Well, it's about time. I watched as people got off the bus and I got in. I decided to seat at the back of the bus, I don't want to stand since the perverts that Meghan told me about. I put on my earphones as I stared out the window. How cliche of me. I looked around for the guy in the hoodie and he was nowhere in my sight. Aah.
-------
Something woke me up. Wait, not something but someone. He/she shrugged me but he/she was gone too quick for me to even process the information of the gender.
Then, I arise from my seat, knowing that it's my stop, I payed the driver.
As I walked in my block, I could hear footsteps behind me. But, when I turned around, there's no one behind me. As I quicken my pace of walking, my heart was beating really fast as the footsteps behind got even faster and nearing me. But, when I looked back, still. There's no one behind me! Holy shoot, now I'm scared.
I run. Running as fast as I can until I reached my house and locked the door. Breathing heavily.
"What the hell is going on?" Alexandra, my sister asked.
"Nothing, I just felt like someone following me." I said to her in heavy breaths. I collapsed to the floor.
"Nicole! Nick! You okay? Should I call someone?" Alexa said as she put her hand on my back.
"No, I'm okay. I was just scared and panicked, you know. My usual self." I said to her.
"Okay, well. Good to know?" Alexa said as she stood up and walked out of the room. What a hectic day, I thought.
------
After I finished showering, I decided to blow dry my hair, unlike the usual. I don't know, I just decided to get a fresh start, I guess. After everything that happened today. I put my PJs (house clothing) on as I blowed dry my hair.
Then, I sat down on my bed and opened my laptop. Just before I clicked the 'Safari' button. A ring on Skype was heard.
'Annie Karren' ah, the usual.
I accepted her call. "Hey Nick!" she said through the screen. "Hey Ann!" I said back to her.
"Nic, how many times do I have to tell you I hate being called Ann?" She said to me.
"And ANN, how many times should I tell you I hate being called Nic? Sounds like my ex's name." I said to her, fiddling with my fingers.
"Oh riiight, oops sorry. Never calling you, uhm, 'that' again." Annie said as she giggled. "By the way.. Dave called me." Annie said. Dave is her ex. A douchebag, I might add. Jock. Rate? Hmm.. I'll give him an 8.
"What's the excuse?" I said. "Begging on your knees to get back, again?" I said, getting bored of her talks on how she loves him but she doesn't want to get back. I personally don't get it. He was a douche and it was clear.
"No, no. This time it was actually interesting. He knows Jesse." She said. And I swear, I almost choked out the air I was breathing. "Are you okay?" Annie said.
"No, I'm fine. Just surprised how someone 'decent' knows the creep." I said to her.
"He said that they used to be friends, but they kind of 'drift off' last year, for some reason. He was that guy at the party!" She said pointing to the screen.
"Which guy at which party? You're not clear." I said to her.
"That guy who's always with gi-" Annie said but she was cut off by the sound of huge rattling. It was coming from downstairs.
"Okay, what the hell was that?" Annie said.
"I don't know, probably my dad coming home late and hitting something cause the lights all off" I lied. I know for sure it wasn't him because he never comes home this late. And I just saw him reading the newspaper earlier before I went up and took a shower.
"Well if it isn't your dad, check up on it and goodluck and don't die. Bring that baseball bat." She said as we ended the call.
Shit was getting real.
-----------
"Hello? Is anybody there?" I said as I closed the door in my room and held up the baseball bat. Then, I put on my 'Yo Gabba! Gabba' slippers. It was childish but comfortable.
I kept helding up the baseball bat as I walked slowly downstairs. This is going to be either a, funny or a horror movie.
As I got into the kitchen, I saw the pans and some utensils all over the floor. This couldn't be my dad, he would picked those up and put it in a second it was falling. He's a neat freak.
Oh god. Don't tell me that it's him. I said as I turned the lights on.
