Lonely Man (chapter 5)

( Lucy's pov)

As we are creeepily looking at the sleeping man, Natsu says how we are like stalkers because we are watching him sleep. I just said whatever and went inside to be sure that the stove wasn't on, AND IT WAS!!! It was a good thing that I turned it off before it caught on fire or else this poor, lonely, and sleeping man would've died from the flames. Suddenly Happy comes zooming in panickly whispering:"HE WOKE UP!!! "OH NO" I quickly reply. Without thinking, I jump behind his small couch so that he didn't see me. Natsu jumped off of the porch and in a tree. Happy simply hid behind the T.V. At least Natsu wouldn't be spotted, as long as he kept quiet, and this dude doesn't have a weird hobby of climbing up random trees. My hiding spot wasn't so great, the man could easily see me if he dropped his remote or felt like sweeping. Happy's spot really wasn't any better, because what if the man couldn't find his remote and had to reach behind the t.v to turn it on? We were all crapped!!!

Wait. What if this man was really nice, like what if he was sooo nice that he didn't mind 3 magical kids sneaking and hiding in his house, and even watching him sleep. Yep, that sounds logical. Absolutely. WHY DOES THIS CRAZY NONSENSE EVEN ENTER MY MIND!!! I guess I should be thinking of ways to get us all out of here instead of actually meeting the guy. So I gently peer over the edge of the couch, and I see the man in his kitchen making tea, he looks so sad. He had sad green eyes. No not sad, lonely. He had very lonesome green eyes. I wanted to give him a hug, and tell him to smile, but we can't get caught or else we don't know what would happen. Maybe the man would be happy to see other people. Or maybe he would be frightened. Either way, I couldn't get caught because I had to lead Happy and me out of here, then find Natsu so we could look through the rest of the town. Then, something hit me, what if this was the person who sent the mission, but we were too late, and all of his friends and family died because we didn't come in time. That's it! I will not tolerate any more of my questions until I have some answers!

I ran up to the man and told him that I was the wizard who accepted the mission request but it seems that I was too late decause there was nobody but him here. All he said was:"Oh, ok." I was freaking, because it was THAT EASY! That was ALL THAT I HAD TO DO!!! I steadily calmed myself so that I could ask him what exactly happened, but his eyes were full of fear and anxiety, and I know that this murderous event would scar him for life. After about 10 minutes of talking with him, I found out that he wasn't a bad guy, given that he was as frightened as he was. His name was Aric, he was 23, and before the attack he had a big family with his wife and kids.

Then as I was about to ask another question, I felt a hand covering my mouth, and an arm around my waist. I didn't really freak out, because I knew it was Natsu. But I did however jump from him startling me. He started to drag me out of the room, when suddenly Aric tried to punch him but of corse he dodged. Then Natsu kicked him and then Aric flew on the couch unconscious. "What was that for!" I yelled at him. "He was trying to take you from me, so I kicked him to get him away from us." He replied. Darn it Natsu, why you have to talk so cute like that. I said to myself in my mind.

As we set up camp in a forest right next to the camp, I couldn't help but think about Aric, and how lonely he must have felt until we showed up.
