Chapter 2

Once inside the mall, we both descended down past each store, wondering which ones to go into.

After a few shops, I decided that I had everything I needed, and was debating if I wanted to go just yet. Yes, Shadow was pretty quiet, but just being accompanied by him, I feel.. I feel like it's right. My train of thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a low grumble. I look over to see Shadow slightly blush, looking away.

I slightly giggled, and realised that this could buy us more time together. "C'mon, let's get you something to eat," I smiled.

"Rose, you really don't have to," he frowned.

"No, I insist, you took me shopping, so I'm giving you food as a small gesture of thanks," I said dragging him into the food court.

"Thanks," he mumbled, trailing along behind me.

As I was dragging him along, I was quite aware of the strange looks we were receiving. I couldn't blame them. I was a pink hedgehog that used to obsess over the town hero, and I'm dragging along the dark furred ultimate life form, the one that keeps himself away from others. I shook my thoughts away as I found somewhere we could eat, and quickly made my way there before a line started.

After Shadow made his order, he agreed to find a table while I would wait for the food. I couldn't help but look back and stare at him.. The way his striped quills bounced in his every step, the way his dark crimson eyes would shine every so lightly, the way he would always stand against a wall crossing his arms and closing his eyes, with his ears flinching because he was just being soothed by the sounds surrounding him. It just feels calming to be around him.

"Miss?" asked the worker holding our food, pulling me out of my daydream.

"Oh, yes thank you," I smiled in embarrassment before paying. I then slowly made my way to our table, but Shadow looked up and made his way to me taking one of the trays and guiding me to the table.

"Thanks for the food, you really didn't have to buy anything," he said looking at me with his usual blank facial expression, but his eyes said everything I needed to know.

"Like I said, it was no trouble, it's the least I could do," I giggled. He nodded in thanks once again, and we silently ate our food, enjoying the company we were giving each other.
