Sakura

"It's Sunday Saku." She says. I nod slowly as she keeps her stare on the trees outside the window. She calls me up every other Sunday to her study when Father isn't home. I never understood the nature of our meetings. She points towards the bathroom located next to her bedroom and I obediently go inside. Stripping myself of my clothing, I turn on the cold water and shower quickly keeping in mind the two minute rule.
I walk out clad in fresh doll-like clothing.
"Come here," She coos smoothly. Her touch is soft on my face as the corners of her tight smile lift. "I have always wanted a daughter. Daddy doesn't want mommy to be kind but she can be naughty if she must."
Mother sits me down by her vanity as she paints my face using a variety of brushes. I sit still for the makeup just as I sit still for the photographs. She always did like to take pictures of me.
"Now arch your back slightly," mother positions me over the arm rest of a velvet chair. The poses become more complex as time passes us by and usually end with an examination of sorts. "you're developing nicely."
Mother measures my extremities before removing the paint and costume. I'd stand idly as she scribbles away in her journals.
"Saku," she coos whilst sliding a tattered tunic over my head. "you mustn't ever grow up." Her chuckles are colder than Father's.
"Hey," A slight tap on my shoulder stirs me awake and I clutch my chest reassuringly. Sasuke steps away from me entirely confused by my actions. I control my breathing till my hands stop trembling from the fear infecting my every nerve.
"I'm sorry," I choke on the last word. My hands find their way to the hair stuck to my forehead from having sweated in my sleep. When did I fall asleep in the living room?
"You started spazzing and I figured I'd wake you," I avoid his stare and swing my legs over the edge of the sofa completely ignoring the pain in them.
"Do you know where Itachi might be? What time it is?" If it hadn't been for my disoriented state I probably wouldn't have spoken so confidently to Sasuke. His looming figure is not a comforting sight.
"You aren't used to Itachi walking out like this? I'm assuming you've just began seeing each other," he hides behind a cruel smile, staring at me as if hoping to tear me to pieces. "I find it alarming that you're so young. Do you intern at Corp and are looking for some sort of promotion? If so, you wouldn't be the first."
"I haven't seen any girls other than me in this house. Unless I've misgendered you." He flinches half-insulted.
"Would you look at that? You've got a sharp tongue behind those pursed lips of yours." Sasuke snickers. "It'd be smart of you to leave my brother alone before he leaves first. Women, according to the books, should never sleep around unless it's serious. By the looks of it you should try and grip onto what little value you've got left."
"What book?" I ask genuinely to which he furrows his brows.
"Are you fuckin' with me right now?"
