Chapter 6 - THEM

Slowly she made her way to the tree that connected the two lonely, sad souls. He was already there, soaking wet from the rain. His white shirt stuck to his body like a second skin. His eyes were wandering around, remembering their beautiful memories, ignoring the deafeningly loud rolls of thunder.
As if feeling her presence he averted his gaze from a big stone next to the tree and looked in her direction.
Their eyes met.
With lighter steps she walked towards him as fast as her weakened body could.
Junhoe looked at the girl in front of him with wide open eyes, as if not believing it really happening.

"Junhoe..."

Eunji flashed a weak smile as she embraced the man standing in front of her.
He hugged her tightly and whispered something into her ear.
"I missed you... a lot..."

Tears rolled down her face as Eun Ji answered with a big smile.
The rain drops were falling down. Eventually, the rain stopped.

"I missed you, too, Junhoe."
"You don't know how happy I am to finally have you by my side again, Eun Ji. I'm so sorry for what I've done... I'm so sorry..."
"It's okay, Junhoe. I don't think I would've acted differently in that situation. Besides, it doesn't matter anymore, does it? We can be together now and no-one will ever tear us apart again."

She pulled out of the embrace and smiled at him. Junhoe looked her deep in the eyes and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Yeah... we're free now."

As if wanting to wish them luck the dark clouds dispersed, letting rays of light shine on the big green tree. Water drops were roling down the green leaves of the tree and fell down on the grass beneath.
The silhouettes of two persons were slowly fading away, leaving only a beautiful scenery behind.
