For the first time in a few weeks I stepped out of my room. The bright light hurt my eyes and I had to close them. I had the lights switched off all the time, and the curtains stopped the bright sunlight from making its way into my room.

With small, silent steps I moved towards the entrance. Luckily there was nobody around. I could hear the heavy rain outside. It was just like that day. Just like that bloody day my parents received what they had wanted for so long. Our break-up.
I ignored the roll of thunder followed by bright lighting and stepped out.
One step.
Two steps.
Three steps.
Wearily putting one foot in front of another I moved forward, leaving my safe and dry home behind me.
The only thing on my mind was that tree. The tree we always met under at the beginning of our relationship. The tree where everything began. The tree that was connected to all these beautiful memories.
Soaking wet I slowly kept walking. A lightning enlightened the path in front of me and made the silhouette of the big tree visible. The wind of the heavy storm danced together with the strong tree. Its branches moved.
Left, then right and then left again.
It was as if the movement of the tree put me into a trance.
Memories of us appeared in front of my inner eye.
I remembered him smiling at me and watching me with that loving look in his eyes.
Before meeting him there hasn't been anyone to look at me and cherish me like that without having an ulterior motive. He was the only one ever to love me for who I was. Not for my money, my status or my family background. Junhoe never wanted anything from me in return for his love. He never asked wether my father's business was doing well or not. He only wanted to know if I was doing well.
When spending time with him it was as if we were the only persons on the earth.

He was my getaway spot from all the shadows around me killing the light inside me.
