Cixi was very ill and sent out her messengers to install the Emperor's nephew, 2-year-old Puyi on the throne as the new Xuantong Emperor.
"Good morning Empress Cixi!" I knocked on her door one morning, bringing her some freshly cooked rice and some chicken and sauce. I did not hear a response from her so I quickly unlocked the door and found her lying in her bed. "Empress Cixi, Empress Cixi?" I didn't know what to do at this point. I screamed out "HELP! SOMETHING HAS HAPPENED TO THE EMPRESS" A billion people were frantically running around the room and with so many people entering and leaving every time I was lost for words and was getting trampled so I left the room and went back to cleaning.
It must've been a couple days before I heard the news about Cixi had passed away on November 15, 1908. I was dismissed from the palace the next day for knowing too much.
