Chapter 6
"Cassie? Cassie Adams?" exclaimed another past school friend. I turned to see who it was knowing I'd have to have the same awkward chat and try pretend I wasn't just doing nothing, I'd have to explain why I was here and then I'd get out of it again by giving Chaz the look to come save me. Of course he'd said he wouldn't leave me but some girl was all over him and I couldn't just stand with them, so I'd walked away pretending I wanted to "socialise". I smiled at the surprised girl in front of me, her name wasn't coming to mind.
"yep." I replied slowly trying to match a name to her skinny face.
"What are you doing here?" She laughed.
Just you know, looking for terrorists.
"I'm here with Chaz." I shrugged and smiled awkwardly.
"Looks like it." she snickered and then I remembered her, Emily Usher. Sat next to me in Maths until she got moved down, naturally ginger now evidently blond, oh and she had an abortion just before we left.
"Nice to see you again Emi." I grinned, turned and walked away.
I walked towards the drink table and got a cup of punch. I looked around and eventually found Chaz nursing the earlier pretty girl, she was now on the floor eyes rolled back and looking like she'd been dragged through a bush. Attractive. I sighed and walked over, sick off standing alone.
"Is she okay?" I asked as I bent down to Chaz's level.
"Does she look okay?" He laughed.
"Has she been spiked?" I asked as she began to dribble.
"No, just had a bit too much..." He said giving her a nudge. She stirred a little and then snorted. "Lets go outside?" he said giving her one last nudge.
"Will she be okay?" I asked a little unsure, I don't drink often, or be around drunk people so this was weird to see.
"sure!" he said as he grabbed my hand as he steered round the crowd of drunks, grabbing a bottle of wine from the side on his way.
We sat down on the love-seat swing at the end of the deserted garden and Chaz poured us both a glass of wine.
"My lady." He said mimicking an English accent as he passed my drink.
"Why thank you sir." I giggled.
"So, Cassie, how are things with Justin?" Chaz said smiling.
"You really wanna hear about that?" I grimaced.
"Well yeah..." He laughed.
"Well..." I said, I took a big gulp of my wine. "Not great." I sighed finding it hard to admit.
"I thought you were made for each other?" He laughed as we both sipped at our drinks.
"It's just hard, we just seem to fight all the time." I sighed and drank some more. "I feel like we can't agree on anything." I said and finished my glass.
"Another?" Chaz asked gesturing the bottle towards me.
"Why not!" I sighed and held my glass out.
"well I think you need a break from each other, find different things to do!" Chaz said as he refilled our glasses.
"that's er what we're doing now, I think." I laughed.
"oh. And how's that working?" he laughed.
"well Justin is on tour and he sounds like he's having a good time on tour with Selena and..." I began to explain but Chaz stopped me.
"For you?' He said skeptically.
