Jumping from building to building I scanned the ally's for her. Beginning to grow frustrated my movements became quicker, giving my eyes less time to check the ally's. "Come on Touka...Where could you of run off to...?" I grumbled to myself, desperately searching for her. I skidded to a stop, catching a glimpse of her in an ally with what looked like a dead ghoul over a dead human behind her. Past those corpses was someone else, he didn't smell like a ghoul but he didn't smell like a human either. In front of them all was Nishiki, another ghoul.

After letting out a exaggerated sigh I jumped down into the ally, landing softly beside Touka. "Where do you two get off?" I grumbled, keeping my back turned to whoever was sitting against the wall behind us at the moment. Touka huffed and glanced at me. "Nishiki started it." She accused but I just ignored her.

"Go home Nishiki, your out numbered so the odds of wining a fight aren't in your favour."  I told him as my kagune appeared, there was slight protest from him but eventually he left. I let out a sigh, turning towards the ghoul that was behind us still. My red and black eyes widened before they returned to their original (e/c) and my kagune disappeared. "Well, aren't you going to eat?" Touka asked him while I was still shocked.

"Kaneki?" I questioned.

~Flashback~

I walked into the class then sat, pulling out the homework we were assigned the day before. We were only around ten so the work was fairly easy. I started day dreaming as the attendance was being done until I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned in my chair to see a boy with a dumb smile and orange hair.

"Hey...Quiet girl...Can I copy your homework?" He asked hopefully.

"I don't even know you so why would I let you do that?" I furrowed my brow slightly.

"You have a point, but listen. Do me a solid here, I'm failing..." He begged, doing his best puppy dog eyes.

"Fine...But this better now become a regular thing." I growled slightly and handed him my work.

"Yes! Thank you, I'm Hide by the way." He said as he started copying the answers on a separate sheet of paper. I turned back around in my chair to face the front. "I'm (Y/n)." I replied, not bothering to look back at him. "You don't have many friends do you?" He pressed and handed me my work back when the teacher wasn't looking. "Why do you say that?" I snorted and turned back around.

"Well...I've seen you before, your always alone. You eat alone, you sit alone, you walk alone...You remind me of my other friend, Kaneki." He explained. I stayed quiet for the moment until he started speaking again. "I can introduce you two! You'll get along great!" He exclaimed and I smiled slightly at his excitement. "Sounds...Fun I guess." I said then turned around.

Later that day I met Kaneki, he was quiet. The complete opposite of Hide, must of been why they were such great friends. Kaneki and I managed to get along well, the three of us hanging out a lot. That was until I had a issue with my family and stopped talking to them two years later. Hide tried to talk to me in class but I was always just silent, and Kaneki would try his best to cheer me up by visiting me from time to time. Eventually he stopped coming over and Hide returned my silence with his own.

~Flashback Over~

"(Y-Y/n)?" Kaneki stuttered.

"I never knew you were a ghoul...You hid your scent well..." I walked closer to him and crouched down in front of him. He pushed himself farther back into the brick wall, obviously terrified of me. I frowned and moved back a bit, hurt from his actions. You'd think being good friends with someone for two years would get them to trust you, even if your a ghoul. "Touka...We need to take him back with us." I stood up and turned towards her.
