When I heard the doorbell ring, I grabbed my shoulder bag and shoved my things in it, and I walked down the stairs.
"Hey, my love." He smiled, when I opened the door.
I took in his appearance. He wore black jeans and a white buttoned-down shirt that remained free of any wrinkles. His face was shaven but his hair remained shaggy.
"I brought these for you." He handed me a bouquet of red roses.
"These are a lot of roses," I said, looking down at the bouquet, unable to hold them all.
"It's only forty." He waved it away.
"Garrett." I turned to him, letting him come in.
"What?"
"Why'd you get that many? I would have been fine with one," I said, after I closed the door.
He scoffed. "Please, as if you're worthy of only one rose. I would have gotten you more but forty was the biggest bouquet they had and all the other floral shops aren't that great."
"Garrett..."
"Anything for you, my love."
I smiled. He was always so sweet to me.
"Thank you, Gare Bear. I love them. Let me just put them in some water."
He nodded and followed me into the kitchen where I got a vase and put the roses and water in.
After that, we walked out to Garrett's car where he opened the door for me and we got in.
"So, just so you know," he said, as he pulled out of the driveway. "This date was planned by Carter, so he planned the movie and dinner. I don't want to take credit for those."
I nodded.
Garrett drove us to the movie theater where we watched a new comedy movie. It was the hardest I had laughed at a movie in a while. We didn't grab any snacks, as we didn't want to be full before dinner.
Garrett ended up driving us to Moe's where the hostess walked us over to a reserved booth, over by a window. A waitress soon came over and took our drink and food order. Garrett and I ordered drinks, a pepperoni pizza, and an order of cheesy garlic bread.
"I can't believe this booth was reserved for us," I said, after chewing my food, looking around the restaurant. It was Saturday night and Moe's was pretty full. Mostly families and a few friend groups filled the room. A few people were coming in and out to pick up their orders.
"All Carter's work. He set this up." His eyes met mine, just before he took a sip of his drink.
"He really is sweet." I nodded. "Even if we butt heads a bit more."
That made Garrett laugh and nod in agreement.
"Thanks for being my date tonight." I looked at him, his attention was on the garlic bread. He was trying to rip a piece off.
"You're welcome. Anytime." He looked up from his food and nodded his head.
"You know..." I smiled, shaking my head and looking away. "Never mind."
"What? Go ahead. Tell me," he said, before taking a bite of the bread.
"Okay, but you have to promise not to tell another living soul." I focused on his eyes. "Garrett, if you love me, you won't tell anyone."
"Of course. If my love tells me not to tell anyone then I won't."
I furrowed my eyebrows. "Hey, why do you call me that?"
