Life Changes in a short time (Part 2 of senior year)

Back to Athens POV:

2 weeks had passed by with Nate trying to talk to me but I just ignored him. Grace and Mom had stopped planning the wedding which I was thankful for. When I first got home they had taken me to see everything that they did from the place, cake, flower's, and their dresses. For a couple of nights I cried myself to sleep knowing this was all my fault, maybe if I talk to him get his point of view on it then I would not have been so harsh about what I did but none the less it's done and time to move on.

I was at work when Zack walked in, putting a smile on my face I walked up to his table. "What can I get you?" "Coffee and a break to talk would be great!" I rolled my eyes and went to the counter to get his coffee. I went back and sat it down in front of him and turned to check on my other tables. My shift went by fast but Zack never left the diner, I figured he learned the trait from Nate. Walking back over to his table "We are closing so I need you to pay and leave Zack so I can close up!" With a smile on his face he left a 20 on the table and walked out the door. Shacking my head, I did the normal cleaning and closing I do every night. 2 hours later which was slow for me but I had this gut feeling the Zack would be waiting outside or by my car to talk to me. Locking the diner up and sure enough there he was standing by the door waiting.

"I don't feel like talking to you or Nate if that is why you're here?" "I'm here because you need some time alone away from here where Nate is at. So this is what I recommend for you, I have this lovely room at a topical resort that I need to get to but the kicker is it's for 2 so what do you say want to join. I'll leave you alone and all that good stuff and you just relax for a week or two! I leave in 4 days so let me know." With that he handed me a card with his number on it and walked away. I got in my car and drove home with the ideal going thru my head. Maybe this is just what I need a little vacation and then a fresh start. I could go to college after all and start new, nothing holding me back and nothing standing in my way. Well I still have a couple of days to think about it, so I'll sleep on it.

Days followed with nothing much happening, it was very quiet. Nate had stopped calling and coming to the diner, which if being truthful to myself hurt a little bit, it felt like he had given up on me but that is what I asked him to do. There had been a lot of restless night wondering if I did the right thing for me, he was the first person I was able to have an open relationship with and not having to worry about my gift getting in the way. Over the months that had past Nate had found away to hide his aura from me which I was grateful for. I could be myself and him his. That is what I loved about us there was no secrets about who we are. Our trip had been going so good until Zack showed up in Asia now look at us, we are not even together anymore. I had this feeling the Zack was the core of the problem if he had never showed up then this would of not happened but I was thankful for it now I knew that he could leave me no matter if it was only for a couple of days. I had been thinking over what Zack had asked and for some reason my heart was telling me that this was something I needed to do, but my mind was telling me not to for he was the root of the problem.

Calling Zack up was just plain weird but none the less I did it. He was going to pick me up tomorrow and we left for the topical resort. I could not help the little bit of excitement that bubbled up in me, I was a sucker for new places. I was able to hold in my joy of going somewhere new but it was only short lived. Once the boarding started my heart started to speed up and I could not remove the smile that was on my face.

Zack POV:

I knew what I was doing was the right thing but there were things the neither one of them knew. I really should tell her, but the thought of Nate's happiness had me thinking otherwise but even he didn't know some of the stuff that Vampires could do granted he had been around a long time but he never really cared to learn about his vampire self. He spent most of his time try to learn to be normal again and be able to be around human without killing every time. I had to give him that one, in the 40 years that we lived together I was surprised at how easy everything was for him when it came to controlling the hungry with in. It took me a good 20 years before I was able to be round humans in a human manner. It only took him 10 years and you would never of know he was a vampire because he acted just like any other human does.

I could tell that Athena was excited to be going to the resort so I would wait and tell her what she needed to know. Once we landed she just could not stand still, her eyes were wide with the site of the resort in front of her. I had to pull her behind me to check in and still having my hand in hers I pulled her to the room. I step in with her in tow and set our bag down at the end of the bed. I heard a gasp from behind me. Her eyes were wider then before with a smile on my face "What you think relaxing enough for you?" She started to speak but nothing came out. I just watched her walk around the room checking out everything. Once she was outside looking at the view of the ocean she turned around and looked at me "Wow, this is amazing Zack" I nodded my head and unpacked my stuff. I jumped into a quick shower letting her unpack as well. I was trying to give her as much space as possible.

I was drying off when I heard a knock on the door "I'll be out in a minute just hold on!" I sort of yell back. I walked back out into the main room were Athena was sitting on the bed, she was looking down at her hands. I sat down beside her and looked at her until she looked up. I heard her take a large breath like she was trying to relax herself before speaking. "Can we talk about a few thing" she asked. I knew that I was the only other vampire she had meet so I was wondering when she would want to know more then what Nate has told her. "Yeah, I think that would be a good ideal there are something that you need to know if you ever decide to have another relationship with a vampire or go back to Nate. But first go take a relaxing shower and clear you mind and I'll meet you on the balcony when you're done!"

I was sitting on the love seat when she came over and sat down beside me, I was supposed to be helping Nate get Athena back but I also wanted her to know the facts before she jumped back in with Nate.

"What do you want to know?" I could tell she was hesitant on the questions she was about to ask, but I stayed quite while she gathered her thought. "Well, do you know if you can have kids? I had asked Nate but he told me he didn't know if it was possible." Ok first question took me off guard but o-well. "Ok, well that is a little complicated but yes we can but only if the people in question are bonded." "Bonded?" "Yeah, it is a tie to one another and it can never be broken unless one or the other dies!" "I get it but how is that done?" "Well you need to be bitten for the bond to take place. That is why, not too many vampires bond with others, but there are those cases that you find the vampire bonding with a human if they are there soul mate or true love. Only the oldest family bond to have children to keep the royal blood line going." "Ok I get it now!" I was glad that she did not seem fazed by the information I was giving her. "Look you have to understand that if you want to be a vampire which in your case I would guess that you did at one point since you were going to marry Nate but it's not a easy life your family can only see you for a little while and there is no guarantee that you will be able to control the hungry for blood quickly, so with that said you might never see your family again before they die." I stared into her eyes while saying it and she did not falter once. She stood up and started walking back into the room once she got to the door way she turned her head towards me "I think I need some sleep but we will finish this conversation!" I knew I needed to do this last part before she fully walked away, I quickly stood and was in front of her in a flash. Taken a hold of her hands I looked her straight in the eyes, "I want to tell you that Nate being away from you in Asia was all my fault, I needed help with a few things that you're not allowed to know about since you are not a vampire. Please don't hate him because of that and if this helps even a little he talked about you none stop and wined because he was not near you!" With that I let go of her hands and went to sit back down. I heard her take in a large breath before she crawled into the big king size bed.
