"'Cause I have hella feelings for you, I act like I don't fucking care, like they ain't even there,"
— Idfc, Blackbear.
"Do you know what it feels like to live, and not know what for?"
Hera's words raced through Ares' mind, oddly enough he DID now understand her words. Because slowly and surely without realising it, Grace had become the purpose of Ares' existence. And he could no longer truly remember how he'd lived his life without her. At least not without feeling empty and dismembered.
{Flashback}
"What is bigger than void?" he asked, staring out in to the city, watching the pink yellow sky, slowly turn in to something dark. Unknown. Unpredictable.
He turned his head around, his eyes laid upon her face, her head tilted, her green eyes squinting slightly in confusion, her rose lips pursed, her nose all scrunched up. God. She was stunning.
"What is bigger than void?", she repeated, her voice a whisper but her mind lost in thought. Maybe she didn't mean to say that aloud?
"I used to think that nothing could be bigger than the Nothing itself. I used to think that one could be living with Nothing, feeling Nothing, filling themselves up with the biggest thing I could imagine. I used to think that I could just go on pretending to be perfectly happy with Nothing."
Her look suddenly became clear, as if she just had realised something.
"And then I met you." he took a step closer to her with each word, now he was in front of her. His hand reaching for the back of her neck pulling her closer to him softly.
"I never could grasp the meaning of "perfect" until I met you, Grace. suddenly the definition fell in to place and my breath was taken away each moment I spent with you. You're what's bigger than a void"
"Life would be easy if I was perfect, Ares. But I'm not. I'm not even amazing or special or anything like that." she muttered, looking down, avoiding all forms of eye contact with him. But his eyes bored in to her, she could feel them on her. Fidgeting with the bottom of her sweater, biting her lip.
"I don't need to see the seven wonders of the world to know what's considered beautiful or amazing. All I really need to do is look into your eyes and I see all the beauty, all the magnificence, that there is to be seen. Your soul should be considered a wonder, simply because of the way you never fail to smile at me, even when you've had a rough day. Some find beauty in sunsets, I see everything I need when looking at you."
"Ares..." Grace whispered. but he cut her off.
"Shut up."
He pulled her body against his, their lips just inches a part and their breathing going heavy, no longer able to hear anything other than the sounds of their hearts beating faster and breaths of anticipation. and then there was a crash.
Their lips meeting, passion flying. A kiss of dreams and hopes.
