3 hours later and I stumble out of the restaurant giggling with James. I learned so much about him in the course of three short hours. He is from a very religious family in Texas, he is a construction worker, he loves to cook, and he is a complete and utter homosexual with a boyfriend of 5 years back in Texas. I was very disappointed to learn this fact at first, seeing as how he is utterly delectable and I would jump his bones in a heartbeat. Too bad, but I think it is safe to say that we can very easily become best friends, both of us coming from similar backgrounds and having similar humor and interests. We part with waves goodbye and kisses on the cheek. I make my way to the crosswalk, waiting patiently for the light at the other side to change so I could walk. After 10 minutes I become extremely aggravated and decided to just jay walk anyways. I looked both ways before rushing across the street and didn't even make it halfway before my heel got stuck in a crack in the ground. Shit, shit, shit I think to myself. I hear a horn honking and I look up like a deer in headlights when I see a car coming towards me faster than I would have liked.
"FUCK!!"
I scream out a loud curse as I try to pry my heel out of the ground. These were a gift from my parents and I'll be damned if I am letting these go. The car is getting closer and I swear my life flashes before my eyes before everything goes black.

My eyelids flutter open when I hear a voice asking if I am alright, and a slight shaking sensation.
"Miss, miss. Are you alright?", my vision clears and I see another very attractive man, aged about 42 or 43. I shoot up slowly and feel an ache in my head and I reach back to rub it only to find a huge bump. "What, what happened?" I croak out. The man smiles and explains to me how I blacked out and fell and hit my head when I was standing in the middle of the road. He offers me a ride home and I accept. He picks me up and carries me to his car, which I now notice is a very nice Ferrari. I whistle lowly as he sets me in his car and closes the door. He gets in the driver's side and the low purr of the engine is heard.
"Now, I believe you may need to get that head of yours checked out. But I don't believe that you have a concussion. My name is Logan, and I am very sorry for almost hitting you with my car."
I attempt a smile but wince slightly when my head began to throb again. "Thank you, Logan. I am new here to New York, and it was stupid of me for jay walking. How can I ever repay you for taking time out of your day and helping me out?"
He smiles, and I appreciate the fact that it reaches his eyes and they began to twinkle.
"There's no need for that at all. Since you are new here how about I give you my business card and my personal cell, and you call me if you need anything. Now, tell me where you're staying so I can get you back safely."
I give him my address, and he drives slowly over speed bumps to avoid my head hurting even more, which I am very thankful for. We arrive at my hotel 10 minutes later and I step out of Logan's car and thank him once again. "Anastasia, it is no problem at all. I want you to give me a call if you need anything at all, and I will be of service to the best of my ability." I smiled gratefully before waving him off. Wow, what an eventful day, and to think it's only my first in the City That Never Sleeps. The sky is much darker now, and the lights of the city once again astound me. Time for bed, and then tomorrow is a whole new day of opportunity for me to start my new life!
