I wake up the next morning to my curtains open, the sun shining out on the water and onto the Statue of Liberty, and a very painful throbbing in my head. Great, just wonderful. I feel like I drank 10 bottles of liquor, even though I didn't even have a drop yesterday. I need to find a doctor here, see if I am alright, and then find myself a job. I need to find a copy machine as well so I can print out multiple copies of my résumé to hand out. My dream is to be a personal assistant of a large business. I have always loved to organize and plan. It may sound like a weird job to want to do, but I think I would enjoy it immensely. After all, it is what I went to college to get a degree for. First step, get ready for the day.An hour later I am prepared to go job searching. I am once again wearing my heels, which were thankfully not damaged when they got stuck, a black wrap dress, and minimum amounts of makeup. I wanted to look professional, yet still show some skin. I am delaying my trip to the doctors because I took some medicine and now the pain in my head is only a dull throb. I need to find a copy machine before anything else. I will again, pick up some newspapers as a start. There are a few companies I have in mind that I would like to apply for. My dream job is a banking company. I love to work with numbers. Suddenly a light bulb goes off in my head and I am dialing a number into my phone. The phone crackles to life.
"Hello, Logan? Yes, Hi. This is Anastasia. Are you busy? Would you be free today for an hour or so by any chance? I need someone with a car, and someone who knows New York. You were my very first thought."
I listened patiently as Logan talked. I hung up the phone ecstatically. Logan is going to help me find a job! He is picking me up now to take me to get copies and then we are going to go job searching!Logan arrives shortly after we talk on the phone and I get into his sleek black car once again. We make small talk as he drives us to a small store called 'Kinkos', so I can make copies. Once we are there I make 12 copies of my résumé and pay the woman at the counter, who looks like she would rather be anywhere else in the world. I set my copies in the backseat of Logan's car and wait for him to get back from a phone call he had to take. Logan gets back in the car and says,
"Ana, I have to rush back to work for a moment to pick something up. You may come with me if you would like and I can show you my office!"
I nod my head enthusiastically, curious as to where he works. He speeds away from the copy store quickly and as we approach a large, all glass skyscraper. Logan pulls up to the valet and steps out. A teenager dressed in a nice suit opens my door for me and helps me out. I smile gratefully, all the while wondering where we are. We walk into the lobby quickly, and a sharp breeze rushes past us, causes my cheeks to turn pink, and for me to lick my now dry lips. The lobby is extremely beautiful and as I gaze around I notice the letters etched into the marble floor. 'B&R Banking' I read silently, as I almost squeal with delight. I have only ever dreamt of this place! It is so wonderful.
"Logan! Do you truly work here?!?" Logan chuckled before replying
"Yes, yes I do. I am partial owner for the next six months until my nephew takes over." This time I truly do squeal. "This place is exquisite! So wonderful, I dream of this place and I can't believe I am actually here!" I hear Logan laughing and I look to see his is bent over, his face red with laughter.
"You're THE Logan Carter!?! Uncle of Aiden Carter!?! CEO of B&R Banking!?!"
Logan nods happily in my direction and I smile. I continue to look around until a voice startles me out of my thought "Uncle Logan! So nice to see you!" I turn slowly, and my jaw almost hits the floor, for the second time in the past 48 hours ..
