Jett

I whimper as Axel walks around the body. He sits on his haunches infront of her and uses the barrel of the gun to lift her head.
"I don't know who he is or where he is." She murmures.
"I don't care." Axel says softly. Tambre's eyes open slightly. They look lifeless. Forgotten. Alone. Scared.
Her eyes scan the room and pause on me.
"Is he?.." Her voice trails off.
"Your boyfriend." Axel says, giving her a doubtful look.
"I don't remember you." She says to me. My breath hitches.
"You will. It will take time but you will. I guess they must have overdosed you with the serum when you got here?" Axel says turning to me giving me a sorry look.
"What serum?" She asks, as her head drops again. She's too weak to even hold herself up.
"It's a memory serum. So you don't remember how you got here, to save chances of escape." Axel says.
"What's my name?" She asks.
"Your name is Tambre Kalidas. Your brother's name is Eric Kalidas." Axel points to the wall and Eric tries to put on a brave look and gives a small wave.
"I remember him. I talk to him a lot. He can't answer anything but yes and no questions though." Tambre chuckles. Axel walks over to Eric and removes the tape from his mouth.
"Tambre it's going to be alright." Eric says.
"I know Eric. I know." Her voices trails off. The blood pool around her makes me nauseous.
"I'll get you out. J, Mel don't use your keys until my que. Mel your brother is across the hallway. Keypad to that room is 897216538." Axel says. Melody nods vigorously.
"No one moves until my que." Axel walks over to Eric putting an ear piece in his ear.
"Stay put." He says and turns the light off, slamming the door shut. Fear and adrenaline slips through my body like a venomous serum that will either kill me or make me invincible.
"Can you hear me?" Axel's voice comes through. Eric glances to me and I nod.
"Yes." He answers.
"Good. I'll tell you when to start going. The keys are the same for all the locks. J I hope you memorized that key pad access code." Axel says.
"Alright here he go." He sighs and I hear metal doors opening.
Mission is go.
"Axel, my boy!" My dad's voice sounds warm and inviting.
"Father." Axel's voice sounds cold and solid.
"Did you get him?" He asks.
"Of course I did." Axel growls.
"Darling are you alright? You have some harsh bruises!" My mothers voice sounds concerned.
"I'm fine. Don't touch me, mother. I'm not eight anymore. It doesn't hurt." Axel says. He sounds sour, like he always did around my parents.
"Where is he?" Dad asks.
"Are you going to kill him?" Axel asks.
"Son I told you it must be done." My father sighs.
"Where is everyone? The base seems incredibly empty today. I've only seen Andrew at the gate." Axel's voice relaxes slightly.
"We've sent them out. Like a day off. Most of our team is in the United States and Canada." My mother's voice answers the question.
"Oh good. This should be easy then." Axel's voice mixes with the rattle of his rifle.
"Son." My father's voice turns as solid and cold as steel.
"You act like you own the world." Axel begins. I have the feeling he's wanted to do this for a very long time.
"Everyone in the world fears me. Therefore I do own it." My father admits.
"No you don't! People are scared of you. They want to kill you!" Axel's voice drips with venom.
"Son, you kill me and you have nothing. No family, no home, no job." My father lists off things.
"This isn't a job. It's a prison. I kill you and I'm more free than I've ever been in my life." Axel says.
"Dear you wouldn't dare." My mother says.
"YOU ABANDONED EVERYONE!" Axel yells. The ear piece screams with feedback and I wince, rubbing my ear on my shoulder.
"I had reason." She argues.
"Yeah? What was it? Why did you NEVER search for Jett when he was taken?" He asks. I listen, wanting to know the answer.
"He was not my son. He always disobeyed." She admits.
"No he didn't. He was more loyal than I ever was." Axel reminds.
"He ran away-"
"You kicked him out." Axel spits with fury.
"Don't try to defend him. You brought him to his funeral." My father says. I can't call him my father anymore. He is some other man than I knew him to be.
"No," Axel sounds like he is smiling, "I brought him to yours." I hear a gunshot ring off, creating more feedback and I groan as my ear adapts the ringing.
"Activate the code." Axel threatens.
"Darling please don't." My mothers voice cries for mercy.
"ACTIVATE IT!" He screams. She walks to a key pad and I hear the beeping. A robotic voice speaks next.
"Activate 'self destruct' code?" It asks.
"yes." My mothers voice sounds worried.
"Thank you." Axel says. Another shot rings off.
"Fuck the que." Eric says. I slip the key into the cuffs and drop them, ripping the duct tape off my mouth.
"AXEL WRONG CODE." Is the first thing I say. Melody unlocks Eric as I slide on Tambre's blood, unlocking her cuffs.
"I realize that now. Better hurry. I'll be waiting with the car." Axel says.
"Jett help." Melody says. I run over to Eric and help him out of the room. I enter the numbers I memorized on the keypad and it buzzes with an incorrect code.
"Axel." I say, panicking.
"Enter 2935." He instructs. I follow and it opens the door. I sigh with relief and head to the exit. We leave the building as the bright sunlight burns my eyes. I put Eric in the vehicle.
"I'll be right back." I say and turn around. The windows of the building burst out and I turn my back to the building, sitting on my haunches and throwing my arms over my head.
"NO!" Axel's arms pull me back and shove me into the car. I resist but the doors are locked. I try to pull up the tab but it's to strong.
"Axel please!" I cry. He shifts into drive and speeds away from the building. Explosions riddle the building and I drop my head into my hands as my back lurches with my sobbing. Eric seems to be making the same noises as me form the back seat. Axel's phone rings and he checks the caller ID
"Shit." He answers.
"How the hell-" His talking is cut off by whoever is on the phone.
"Alright. Hang tight. Just need to finish something." He sighs and hangs up.
"Who was that?" I question.
"A friend from a coffee shop. I'm going to take you guys back to the apartment then fetch em." He says, gripping the steering wheel and turning it. He takes us back to the apartment and we drag Eric back up to the apartment, dropping him on a mattress and leave Axel to do his things. We sit in opposite corners of the room letting the shock have it's effect.
I don't want to let it have it's effect.
I wish it was me in the building. Not her.
