Secret Uncovered (Merthur Fanfic) - On Hold

Chapter 2

Earlier today Arthur had accepted me for me. The weight on my destiny became less of a burden instantly. After walking out of Arthur's room I head straight to the kitchen to get Arthur's breakfast. The kitchen was crammed with servants and cooks, all doing their part in making the food ready for the day. Grabbing a two trays full of a variety of foods, in each hand, I head out of the kitchen to Arthur's room.

"You look happy today Merlin." States Gwen, smiling at me as I walk past her.

"Yah, today is just one of those days." I state smiling back, trying to keep the food from falling to the floor.

"Here let me help you with that Merlin." Says Gwen, as she takes of the trays in hand.

"Thank you Gwen." I say, smiling.

Walking into Arthur's room we place the food on the table. Arthur was working hard at his desk that he didn't notice us come in. Once the food was in the table Gwen left.

"Your food sir." I state smiling.

"Geez Merlin! Knock before barging into my chambers!" says Arthur, after jumping out of his chair.

"yes sir." I say laughing a slight bit.

"Wow Merlin you didn't need to go overboard!" states Arthur, as he gets up from the floor and walks towards the table with food on it.

"What?" I ask, "I can't give you a good amount of food once in a while."

"You never give me this much food." states, Arthur.

"I'll take some back to th-"I start.

"No merlin that's alright, thanks." Says Arthur, bringing his left hand up as he says this, then begins eating his food.

Later that day Arthur was practicing his fighting with the knights, while I sat on a bench to the side.

"Come on Leon! You can do better than that!" states Arthur, as he takes Leon down so fast he trips and falls onto the ground.

"I could never beat you my lord." Says Leon, getting up from the ground.

"Sir, your father is of need of you." Says one of Uther's knights.

Nodding, Arthur says, "Merlin help me out of my armour."

"Yes sir." I say, as I follow him to where some tables were.

Once all of Arthur's Armour was off, I head back inside the castle to put it away. Then head to the throne room to see what Uther had to say.

"There has been a development of sorcery in a nearby town! We must go there, and find the sorcerer! I can not have a sorcerer lose in my kingdom!" yells Uther.

Every time Uther mentions his hatred towards sorcery it makes me sick. How could someone like him be so blind in seeing all sorcerer's evil no matter the act. If only he knew that not all are evil, just the why they use it is.

Everyone in the room said, "Yes my lord." Then left the room. Arthur had also done this, most likely to seem in agreement with his decision so Uther wouldn't become suspicious. Slightly smiling at this, I follow Arthur out of the throne room and into Arthur's chambers.

Coming into his chambers I could see Arthur stressed. About to reply Arthur says, "I am so confused Merlin."

"Sire?" I say.

"All my life my father taught me that all sorcerers were evil. That they are corrupted and people who shouldn't even exist. I was told that there was no good in what they did." Says Arthur, pausing then continues. "Since finding out your secret and all, I've come to realize that magic can't all be evil. But how can that be."

"Sorcery is only evil in the hands of evil people." I state, trying to make sense of the situation.

"uh huh, you're going to have to explain more than that Merlin." Says Arthur, looking at me confused.

"Take this sword for an example." I state, taking Arthur's ceremonial sword in hand and giving it to Arthur. "The sword cannot do anything on its own, it will just sit there and do nothing. But if you weild it with your hands it does as you wield it to do."

"And what does this have to do with magic Merlin" says Arthur, looking at his sword.

"Magic is the same thing. It won't do anything without you commanding of it to." I say, seeing Arthur beginning to understand. "Not all magic is evil Arthur. Magic can be used for good. Such as healing the sick or just using it for entertainment and fun. The only way magic could be bad is if the user wielded it to do bad."

"Thank you Merlin, that actually makes sense." Says Arthur, now understanding. "Now what do we do about this so called sorcerer in the nearby town?"

"That will depend on the sorcerer's intentions. If the sorcerer is just a person that tried to do good but was looked at as doing bad, then maybe we could help them escape and then tell your father that we killed them on the spot." I say, confident.

"And if the sorcerer is bad?" asks Arthur.

"I'll try to reason with him or her. Maybe change there mind." I say.

"Sounds good Merlin. Get everything ready, we meet in the stables at dawn." Says Arthur, as I head out of his chambers to do just that.
