You and Jack were walking together, side by side and hand in hand. You were enjoying the fall weather at the park by following the familiar trail that held so many memories. The route wrapped around a duck pond and the sidewalk was under a forest of orange, yellow and red. It was the perfect day and place.

Usually these walks are full of deep conversations with Hodgens. You've discussed aliens, scientific theories, cases from work and even chupacabras. That was always your favorite part of it all, trying to pay attention to his research when all you could think about is the way his eyes tied in with the scenery around him so well.

"You spaced out, [y/n]." He waved the hand that wasn't holding yours in front of your face to bring you back to Earth. "Is my talking about bugs boring you?" He asked, laughing a little.

"What?" Then you snapped out of your trance, realizing what he said to you. "Oh, Jack, no, sorry. I got lost in your eyes."

He smiled the warmest you've ever witnessed. You noticed how his cheeks and nose were slightly pink from the cold weather and how his curly hair seemed more so than usual. You've fallen so deeply and madly in love with this man that it's impossible to escape.

Then he stopped walking suddenly. "Are you okay? Did I say something?" You were so worried up until you looked into his eyes again. You saw that he wasn't upset, but instead he was intently thinking about something of which you didn't know. You were confused and maybe even a little scared; you didn't know what to think.

"I've traveled." Hodgens began talking unexpectedly and you walked closer to him. That adorable man that you love, wearing his favorite sweatshirt. "I've seen the amazing wonders of the world, and still, you're the most beautiful thing I've ever laid eyes on. The Grand Canyon has nothing on you and they don't call it grand for no reason. I love you. I am in love with you. I am in love with the way your face lights up when you're excited and how you find humor in the oddest places. I am in love with you." He stopped for a moment, lost in your eyes. He wondered what was going on in your mind, what your thought process was right now. Does she know that everything is about to change?

Hodgens brought out a little black box from his pocket. Immediately you knew what it meant, what was happening. In astonishment, you placed your hands on your mouth. There were happy, joyful tears forming in your eyes. Those beautiful eyes that Hodgens first fell in love with. He had to take a breath before popping the question and opening the box, revealing the perfect ring. "Will you spend the rest of your life with me? Will you marry me so I can show you how amazing our life can be together?"

You didn't stop to think about your answer, you were sure with what it was and you have been for awhile, but you paused to let everything sink in. You wanted to have a better and clearer memory for when you look back on it after you've grown old with him.

You looked around you at the little green pond, the trees with their falling leaves, and lastly, at Jack. He was smiling at you, watching your face and admiring the way you looked. You listened to the faint chatter from people around the pond and the chirping birds flying through the blue sky. You could smell the bakery shop around the block that you and Hodgens always go to and you could feel the breeze of autumn on your face. What a perfect memory of a beautiful fall day with the one you love.

"Jack Hodgens, of course I'll marry you."

It all happened so quickly; his excited laugh, slipping the ring onto your finger, jumping into his arms. He buried his face into your shoulder when he hugged you, happy tears filling his eyes.
