Cabin Five.
Its layout is different than Cabin Two. This year, girls cabins are the odd-numbered ones, so that means I would have had a different cabin for sure this year. The cabins are all basically exactly the same, but instead of the entrance being on the left, the short hallway entering the cabin was in the right side, and it turned into the room with the bunks on the left, taking up most of the rest of the cabin. The washrooms were directly at the end of the hall, and the Councellor's bedroom is to the right, about halfway down the hallway.
I was late getting here, so I didn't get to meet anybody from my cabin. When I walked in the cabin, I knew what I was expecting; a couple of my friends from last year, and that Reina would be the councellor again. Last year, Reina was the councellor for the cabin with people with "superhuman powers," like my sight ability that Reina calls "double-geared vision." It's where I can basically switch my line of sight from normal to super far away and back with just mental concentration. It's really helpful, unless I'm in an enclosed room. Like, once I tried switching my vision in the middle on class to see if I could look straight into the other classroom, but I just ended up staring at the individual grains on a brick. I got interested in the grain patterns (because I am easy to distract), so I tried to study them. Well, that worked for about two minutes, and then I was sent down to the nurse's office with a headache.
Speaking of being easy to distract! Back to the point; I was expecting to see a couple familiar faces. However, when I walked into the cabin, I saw nobody that I recognized. Not even Reina was there; instead there was a young woman who looked tall for her age (like, she was realllyyy tall!) and she had her ash-brown hair in a pretty ponytail that kind of favored her right side. I don't get how people get their hair to do that! Whenever I put my hair in a ponytail, it goes straight down the middle of my head, and it's so boring that way! And then I see other people with their ponytails going more to one side, and it's soooooo pretty! I wish I could do that with my hair.
"You must be Nicole," our new councellor said, breaking my train of thought about ponytails. I snapped back to reality and nodded. Obviously she knew who I was, because I was the last person to arrive. "Hi, Nicole. I'm Kanna. I'm your councellor."
"Hey, Kanna," I greeted, walking over towards the rest if the group. Besides Kanna, there were nine other pairs of eyes staring at me. Alright, we have a nice sized group this year!
"You can just have a seat with the other girls, Nicole," Kanna instructed. "You made it just in time; we were just about to start introductions!"
Introductions are how the month always starts; we all get a chance to meet our cabin-mates and learn a bit about them, specifically about their powers that got them here in the first place. I glanced around for somewhere to sit.
