Part 2

I pulled over to double check the address the gates on this place were massive wrought iron ones, the fences were similar. I was sure I had followed the directions that Vlad’s assistant gave me correctly but having now arrived; I was being to second guess myself. The map and the address matched I never imagined that someone would be able to lease a house with fencing like this, so quickly. I still could not actually see the house yet but judging by the fencing and the security guards at the gate, Vlad must have pulled some serious strings to get this place I didn’t even know there was anything like this around town and I have lived in orange my whole life.

I was a bit early but I was always early never in my life have I been late to anything. I leave early so there is no reason for being late, such as finding a car park if the place is notoriously busy or allowing time to find a place that I had never been or heard of such as today. The place was not really hard to find once you knew what back roads to take, the little suburb of sorts that summer hill is, is not at all overly populated, the houses are rather large only because the houses that actually had views of the town and surrounds were breathtaking therefore extremely expensive for orange, although they had nothing on the prices of living in the larger cities of aust, for instance Sydney or Melbourne. But they there is no beach in orange we are around four hours from the nearest beach, so really to city dwellers the housing prices out here are probably fairly cheap.

I’m debating, whether I should just wait another ten minutes before heading up the drive way or if I should just go now. “Bugger it” talking to myself again it’s becoming more common lately. I often catch myself saying something and then looking over to the chair were Jack would usually sit, as though I am going to hear his voice answer me back.

“Can I help you” the security guard asks as I pull up at the gate

“Yes. I’m here to see Vladimir Rykov” trying to keep the nervousness out of my voice after all this is the vampire’s lair. Even though he is my father and imp supposedly half vampire I still can’t help but be freaked out by it all.

“Do you have an appointment?”

“he is expecting me, Isabella Stephens” I could hear the irritation seeping into my voice, obviously he is expecting me I knew how to get to the place after all he has not been living here for any more than a day how many people could possibly know he lives here yet.

“ahh yes, he did say he was expecting a young lady of that name, if you follow this driveway for around two kilometres you will see a turn off on your left take it and follow the main drive for another kilometre and you will see the estate gardens, you may park anywhere except on the grass or gardens of course.”

“And if I wanted to park on the grass would someone stop me?” I could not help myself I had to ask it. He shot me this look as if to say don’t you dare the boss will shot me.

“I would not advise it, Mr Rykov will not take kindly to someone parking on the greenery.”

“We shall soon find out then.” I was baiting him but I could not help it he had the most serious expression on his face every much like the royal guards who stood outside Buckingham palace, they never smiled and I’m pretty sure this guy has never smiled in his life. The gates opened and I began to drive through them the directions he gave me were impossibly simple I think a blind drunk person could have found their way. Part of me was so tempted to park on the grass once I got to the house. Driving along I could not see any of the ginormous fence that seemed to surround the property leading me to wonder just how large this place actually was and why anyone could want this much space if it was not used for farming in the first place,. Yeah sure gardens are great but why on earth anyone would want a place so large that the front garden was so large that the house was situated at least three kilometres from the road is entirely beyond me. I cannot see any animals or any indication that the ground are being used for any productive purpose so why even bother it is just a waste of land that could be used in a useful manner.
