Stars twinkled in the dark night sky. Shining, glistening, waiting. Waiting to be lost in space and time, never to be seen again. The forest in front of her stood quiet, deep, black. The only sound heard in the night was the sound of the summer leaves rustling in the wind. Wind, free as a spirit. Allowed to prance around like a gazelle anywhere it wants to. The grass underneath her feet was dying with every step she took, flattened against the soil, only rising back up again when it had the strength.
She entered the forest. A bush rustled next to her, but she paid it no attention. Trees towered tall and mighty. The branches waved down to her from up above. An owl asked 'who' somewhere in the distance. However, her feet took her down another path. Stones and rocks worn down by the constant waves of life walking across them.
Finally, she made it to her little clearing. The lights she had set up twinkled in their little orbs hung on string. Sitting in the middle lay a ring of round stones, prepared for a fire. She had covered the ground in a thick layer of soft, orange needles. Her bare feet took her to the sanded down log seat.
The open space was surrounded by a dense collection of emerald green bushes and trees, sprinkled by a layer of morning dew.
Suddenly, a shining eye peaked out from behind a tree. Everything behind it was pitch black, and it stood out with its gorgeous baby blue rings. She brushed back her short black and blue hair. Curious, she stood up from the seat and slowly crept forward. A small burst of blue smoke erupted from the dark spot where the eye was, about a foot below. She stopped in her tracks.
Out of the shadows emerged a head, the head of a mythical creature. It stood at the height of a bus, proud, strong. It's blue scales sparkled like icy crystals in the dim light. It's eyes locked onto hers. Curiosity, fear, heed. She was struck by awe, unable to move. It stepped completely out of the shadows and it was somehow even more beautiful. Looking at it, she took in all the details. Long, strong wings, an arrow shaped tail that looked like an ice block cut to perfection, strong-looking horns on its head, blue scales. Taking her palms off the soft nettles of the ground, she stood and walked towards the beast. She reached out her hand. She looked it in the eye. She closed her eyes. Scales against her fingers, shadows on her face, an impossible miracle.
She wanted to be here, in this moment, forever, for in front of her stood a dragon.
