Night in the city was always peaceful and serene. The sounds of the nighttime creatures singing their evening songs, the warm light bathing spots of the concrete. Tonight, however, was eerily quiet. The only sound heard was the haunting echoes of my heels hitting the pavement. Lights flickered as I went by, creating false shadows of invisible creatures. I walked along a pathway that was so familiar, yet tonight it transformed into something foreign and unnerving. I clutched tighter onto my silk shawl, barely shielding me from the bitter cold of the night. Every building I passed looked more inviting then the next, but I desperately needed to return home.

It had been months since I had seen him, and when I received the news that the war was almost over, I was ecstatic. Every letter that he wrote me only made me long for his affectionate expression and delicate words. Each word he wrote had its own extraordinary meaning. I wrote him every day, each letter with more hope that he would return home as quickly as possible. His letters, returning mine, strengthened my hope that he would survive and emerge victorious from the war.

Each thought about him stirred my soul with sweltering heat. The cold became lukewarm, and I began to walk faster. Each step that caressed the ground became swifter, until I approached the soothing sight of my inherited estate. Just as I was about to touch the golden knob, I heard the sound of footsteps belonging to another individual. I froze, expecting the worst to take all my hope away. That was, until I heard them speak.

"You are certainly a sight for sore eyes! It feels heavenly to see you again." began the voice that I had been hearing in my mind all these months. Without hesitation, I swung around and embraced him, clutching onto his jacket so tightly, I thought I would never let go, my dress billowing around him.

"I've missed you dearly, Alexander. No amount of words can express the amount of joy I feel right now!" I sniffed, tears of joy starting to pool in my eyes. I felt his arms returning my affection, embracing me as well. "I thought I would never lay eyes on you again, Alexander..." I felt so helpless in his arms, making each second more blissful.

I felt his hand caress my hair as he answered my joyful remark with, "Me as well, but I was determined to return back to you. The war is over, we're free. America's free." I couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth. America was finally free from Britain's chains of monarchy. I snapped out of my thoughts of freedom when I felt his hand tilt my chin upwards, making me gaze into his enchanting eyes. "You consumed my thoughts with every waking hour. I feel favored to be in your embrace, my dearest."

I lingered in shock, my heart soaring beyond the stars. "He called me 'Dearest', his dearest." I dreamily pondered. With two words, he enamored my very being with such agility. I felt myself gravitate towards him, making us the only two people in this enormous world. I felt our heart beat as one powerful machine as we drew closer to one another. Our faces were only inches apart, and I began to close my eyes until I heard three voices that I was all too familiar with.

"OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" bellowed the voices of Laurens, Lafayette, and Mulligan as they raced down the street. "HAMILTON YOU HAVE TO COME WITH US TONIGHT TO DRINK SOME ROUN-" they were about to complete their sentence when they spotted us both frozen solid from shock. Laurens began to grow a bright shade of red before all of them questioned, "Oh..did we just interrupt something?" I quickly backed away from Alexander as I felt my cheeks growing warm.

"Gentlemen...I can explain!" I chirped as I try to conceal my embarrassment. I considered running into my home to hide from the group of friends, when I feel Alexander grasp my hand firmly. I try not to faint as I squeeze his hand in return, knowing he will continue this unplanned conversation.

"Friends," Alexander began, his tone appearing as if nothing had just happened. "You've caught me at quite the unfortunate moment. As you can see," Alexander continued as he gently lifts our intertwined fingers. "I have just been reunited with my mistress, who I miss dearly." he explained to the shocked group of comrades, but their faces were nothing compared to how astounded I was at his statements.

Understanding the situation, all three men began to slowly back away before motioning, "Well, we should be on our way. You know where to find us, Alexander!" The boys then scrambled away, sly comments being whispered among them. I stood there, dumbfounded for what seemed like the longest time, before Alexander took my other hand and captured my attention.

"I hope this has not spoiled our reunion," he worried. "I didn't know they would be here at th-" before he could finish his sentence, I wrapped my hand round his neck and kissed him softly before softly whispering, "You will never be satisfied, will you?" Chuckling softly, he said, "I am now that you're by my side once more." With that gentle exchange of words, hand-in-hand, we ambled into my estate, our estate.
