"Wow, that was....beautiful.." I heard Lafayette say, sniffling, making my eyes shoot open. I realized all three men had been listening the whole time,  and Alexander's shocked and blushing expression only confirmed my theories. Embarrassed, I quickly began scrambling for something to say.

"I didn't see you all there! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize that I-" before I could finish sputtering out a simple sentence, I felt Alexander hug me from behind, holding my hands in his. Before I could catch my train of thought, I felt him leading me into the living room, deserting us from his group of friends.  Before I could question anything, I felt him lean down and whisper into my ear.

"Elise," he began, already making my spine shiver. "was what you were singing true?" he questioned. Taking a deep breath, I swiftly turned around and facing Alexander, caressed his cheek.

"Alexander, I may have been in my own fantasy world, but everything I said was as sincere, no is as sincere, as possible. I-I didn't write what I truly wanted to say, but those lyrics said everything and more that I could've written to you." I smiled, staring deeply into his eyes. He didn't even need to continue talking, because his eyes were telling me everything I could ever possibly want in life. "I love you, Alexander," I admitted, getting closer to him.

"I lov-" Alexander began, before Laurens stumbled into the room and fell on the floor, causing a loud thud. With hesitation, both Alexander and I rushed to his side. "Are you okay, Laurens?" Alexander worried, propping him up on his knees. "You took a pretty hard fall there.."

"I am now.." I heard him mumble, before putting on a huge smile.  "-I mean I must've tripped on the carpet or something, no big deal!" he reassured as he began to get up as if nothing had happened. Making sure he was alright, Alexander walked with him back into the dining room, giving me a quick wink before disappearing into the room.

"That was..strange" I thought, confused on what had just happened. When I walked back into the room, I saw Alexander and Laurens in the kitchen, talking. Thinking nothing of it, I decided to read the book I had placed by the table until everyone was back in the room. What seemed like two to three hours later, I glanced back to the table to see three platters placed in the middle of the table.Lafayette, who witnessed me staring at the platters, quickly took my arm, making me drop my book, and led me to my seat.

"Please sit down, Madame Elise! We have prepared an excellent feast for this luncheon!" Lafayette coaxed while helping me in my seat. Soon after, everyone but Lafayette took their places at the table, Alexander and Laurens being the last one. Only then did I notice Alexander' face, neck, and clothes

His expression looked neutral, but his eyes look bewildered and his neck was covered with his shirt collar. Not to mention that his jacket and shirt were a bit wrinkled and riffled in some places. This automatically raised my suspicions, since Alexander never kept his collar untucked and always made sure his clothes were as presentable as possible.  I glanced a couple seats over and saw Laurens, who's cheeks were a dark shade of red, which didn't match with the hint of guilt in his eyes. The only thing that caused me to snap out of my jumble of thoughts and questions was Lafayette, who was reaching for the platter tops.

"For the meal of..right now. I present to you all..." Lafayette began before lifting each platter to, revealing the astonishing food they made. "Today we give your taste buds the gift of fish, fruit salad, juice, and vegetables!" Lafayette pronounced proudly. I clapped politely, proud of the boys making a meal by their own. As soon as everyone had their plates filled, I took the first bit of the food and enjoyed the amazing taste.

"This is really good, I'm so proud of you all!" I cheer. Lafayette and Mulligan gladly accepted the compliment while eating at what looks like an unsafe speed, but Alexander and Laurens both looked away, almost in shame. Too suspicious, I quickly stood up and walked behind Alexander's chair.

"Are you alright, Alexander?" I whispered into his ear, startling him a bit. Once he calmed down, he took my hand, taking a quick glance at Laurens, then staring right at me. Taking a deep breath, he smiled widely, beckoning me to get get closer. Leaning in a bit, I awaited his response.

"Everything is alright, dear. I was just deep in thought." he explained, ushering me back to my seat, and I believed him.
