Three Days Before The Wedding....

"It's...perfect!" I exclaimed, slowly twirling. This was the final dress fitting before the wedding, and the dress looked magnificent. It was a silk and lace dress, with pearls embroidering every main seam and curve, with a beautiful diamond veil to top it off. Quickly paying for the dress and changing back into my teal and silver gown, I thanked the seamstress before rushing back home.

I had told Alexander I would be back in about three hours, but since everything fit perfectly, I finished up in only one hour, so I was eager to surprise him. "I still can't believe I'm being wed!" I thought gleefully while practically skipping back to the house. Everything was going amazingly, the menu, the venue, and seating were all set, and all the guests has reserved their spots earlier than expected. Even our vows were well-rehearsed and smooth. I felt the joy in my heart as I opened the door to the house, ready to greet my husband-to-be.

Silence greeted me as I quietly closed the door. "He must be out in the garden.." I pondered, so I began to rush up the stairs so I could put away my bag and umbrella. Turning right in the hallway, I rushed into the bedroom, as silent as the uptown night. As soon as I looked up, my bag and umbrella fell onto the ground, tears starting to brim my eyes.

Alexander and Laurens were passionately kissing, their jackets strewn on the ground near them. Laurens was basically pulling Alexander's hair, blushing a deep shade of red. Alexander was gripping onto Laurens' shirt tightly, as if he never wanted to let go. The sound of my things dropping on the floor, parted them as they looked in my direction. When they saw the tears in my eyes and the hands over my mouth, both of their eyes widened, like a deer caught in headlights. Immediately, Laurens backed away from Alexander, while Alexander began to scramble for something to say.

"I-It's not what it looks like! I-I can explain, Elise!" Alexander pleaded while reaching for my hand. My hand jerked away as I felt my heart break into a million peices. Nothing could explain the amount of hurt I felt, he had been cheating on me, with his best friend, no less! Laurens also tried to reach towards me, trying to explain, but I backed away, too hurt to listen.

"How long has this been going on?" I asked tearfully, almost at the brink of sobbing. I still couldn't believe what I had just witnessed.

"Every since the day I proposed..." Alexander answered shamefully, his eyes full of regret. "I didn't kn-" Alexander began, but I put a finger to his lips and began packing my things. When I was done, I had two suitcases in my hands, tears pouring down my face. The whole time I had been packing, Alexander and Laurens tried to apologize and explain, hoping to get me to forgive them. With both suitcases in my hands, I walked to the bedroom door, only sharing a few words before I left the room.

"I hope you're satisfied, Alexander." I said coldly, before politely walking down the stairs and out of the house, leaving Alexander and Laurens both frozen in their places as I slammed the front door shut.
