A/N "Your eyes shined with love and affection. Your hair fell over your shoulder. Your smile reached your eyes. That's all of things I imagined to happen someday. Someday, you'll be happy."

NICOLE GOLD

Kyleen runs her index finger over the rim of her coffee cup, intensely focused.

"Kyleen," I interrupt her thinking.

She whips her head in my direction, "Huh?"

"You've been staring at your coffee for the past two minutes, are you okay?"

She nods her head quickly, "Yeah, I'm fine."

I sit back in my chair, and cross my arms.

I raise an eyebrow, "Kyleen.."

She looks out the window, taking a small sip of her beverage. Her dark hazel eyes haven't met mine all week.

"Look at me." I demand.

She whips her head in my direction, but looks at the wall beside me.

"In the eyes, Kyleen."

She hesitantly travels her eyes towards mine, and gives me a fearful look.

"What's wrong?" I ask, concerned with her weird behavior.

She shrugs, not saying a word to me.

"Kyleen.." I trail off.

It's been two months since I ran into her, and she's barely said a thing to me all week.

She's normally quirky and bubbly, but now, she's barely said a word to me all week.

I look at her, and she stares back.

Her hazel eyes turn away from me, trailing back towards the window and running her finger over the rim of the cup again.

Why is it that, everytime I have coffee, there's always something wrong?

I should really stop drinking coffee.

"Tell me." I say, frustrated with her.

"I.. Can't." She declares, giving me a sheepish look.

"My dorm?" I suggest.

She shakes her head, "Nicole, I can't."

I look at her, glaring, "You have barely said a word to me for the past week. It's like you're avoiding me, but yet, you aren't. Because you're here, but at the same time, it feels like you aren't. You feel so far away, Kyleen."

She gives me a soft look, "Your dorm.." she whispers.

I send her a sad look, "Alright."

I grab my keys, and wait for Kyleen to follow after me. She grabs her coffee, throwing it out as we exit the aroma of coffee.

I click shut the door behind me, and I see a shy, small Kyleen. She's rubbing her left hand over her other hand, looking towards the ground.

The whole ride here, we didn't say a single word.

I turn around, placing my bag down.

She breaks the silence first, "I'm abused."

I freeze in my position from placing my keys on my night stand. I wait for her to continue, still not turning around.

"For seven months.." she trails off, distantly answering, "My.. My boyfriend has aggression issues. At times, I don't even consider him as my boyfriend. I tried breaking up with him, but he just simply refused. He hits me.. Kicks me at times.. And if I'm lucky, he'll only want sex from me and nothing else. He constantly reminds me of how sorry he is, and how much he loves me. But I don't believe that. You don't hurt the ones you love.." Her voice cracks.
