Fiona Penderghast, for her whole life has been the centre of attention. Not in the good way though. She was not our ordinary teenage girl but a bitch who excelled in the art of exploitation. Or atleast that's what everyone thought. Any friend she ever made was labelled as the freak's friend. Maybe that was the reason why no one ever befriended her. Everyone though of her as the attention-seeking self-harming freak. That was completely opposite of what she really was. The shades of her past darkened her days drowning her in misery and loneliness. Her life had become a maze, everywhere she went, she met a dead end.
She was trying to put her past to the back of her head and make a new start in the new school. But that would be difficult. She had no idea of what was coming. All eyes turned to her as she entered the main hallway. She could feel their eyes on her but didn't have the guts to look up. Everybody knew the new transfer student who had been in rehab last month. She was the hot topic right now. Girls like her in this school were rare. Doncaster high school-home to the best footballers in town had never seen anything like her. Her choice of clohting didn't help much. A pair of black chinos with a button down black shirt was not very Doncaster type. People there would always be wearing vibrant colours. She wore a blue furry coat because of the winter. It was late december and as usual freezing.
She knew everyone was staring at her and calling her names but she wasn't really bothered. She had her eyes fixed on the little map in her hands which she had been trying to study for the past fifteen minutes. Her chocolate brown hairs with blue extensions covered part of her cheeks creating a great contrast with her pale face. Not completely knowing where she was going, she ended up back at the main enterance. Mr Jarrar, the school counsellor guided her to the lockers. He was in his late twenties and had mesmerizing black eyes. Girls drooled over him. He was like the hot teacher in school that every girl wanted. Fiona went to the lockers' area and was completely amazed by the look of them. They were all painted and customized by the students. Students of Doncaster high were pretty creative.
She was keeping her books in the locker and could hear everyone in the background laughing and whispering about her. For her whole life, she had wanted to be happy. To fit in. And for a moment she thought that this was her big chance but she was definitely wrong. She was lost in her thoughts when she realized that there were no more whispers coming from behind. When she turned, there was no one there. Everybody was moving towards the main enterance. She thanked the reason of their exit. Atleast, she was not the centre of attention at that moment. She wanted to go out but was scared of being judged and criticised. She was always doing things that got her disparaged so why not go out. She stepped in the cold air outside the school. It was freezing at 12 degree Celsius and still the whole school was standing outside. Apparently, it was the pre-birthday celebration of the school jock. He stepped out of his silver chevrolet camaro. Rich and cocky. Wearing a blue button down shirt and skinny black jeans and the black beanie, he looked like a real-life version of Peter pan. Their was an amzing cake and a lot of gifts. She was standing behind everyone and could barely see the jock but she was sure he was not happy. All this gifts, cake and the car definitely were not enough to make guy happy. He was undoubtedly faking the laugh and appreciation.
Louis was the main asset for Doncaster High's football team. Most of the winning goals were always made by the captain-Louis Tomlinson. He was the funny guy who made everyone laugh, so not like a jock. He loved football but didn't like to be labelled or behave in a certain way because of your reputation. He just went on with the flow never falling out. He pretended to be shallow so he could fit in without being bullied everyday like his elder sister. His family was good friends with the Millers. Apparently, he ws dating Aria Miller. He just happened to have smiled and talked to her during one of the family BBQs and the next day, they were boyfriend and girlfriend. He hated the girl. She was a shimmy shimmy lipgloss wearing barbie who knew nothing of the basic ethics.
"It's rude to stare", Aria said as she passed Fiona throwing her books down with her bag. Louis glared at Aria for doing that and pulled her away. Aria's high heels clacked on the floor as she walked into the entrance, her pink poncho looking like a cape. She was the typical high school bitch. Fiona picked up her books and went back to the locker's area. Her locker, unfortunately, was right in between of Louis' and Aria'a locker. She got her history textbook and was about to leave for the class when Mr Jarrar summmoned her to his office. That doesn't seem good.
"May I come in?" She asked. Mr Jarrar was going through some papers.
"Yes", he replied giving her a smile. She came in and he motioned her to sit. She looked around his office. It was a small office with a grey tiled floor. The walls were covered with different paintings and pictures. An old Mac computer occcupied one end of the huge table behind which he, himself sat. Papers were scattered on his desk covering the white old-fashioned telephone. His office gave that nice comforting feel to her. It felt like she was sitting in her own house.
"Welcome to Doncaster High. I know this is hard for you to fit in with all the reputation you ha-"
"It's Ok. I am doing great. Better than any where else", she lied. She didn't want the sympathy from anyone.
"Oh, that's good then. I hope you are not lying. But I was worried that you might have some trouble finding your classes. So, I took the liberty of finding you a life-size human map. Well, he is an amazing person. You will like him", he said. Her heart started racing. She knew that that person was going to pick on her, bully her. She forced a smile and said "Thankyou. But that isn't necessary."
"It absolutely is", he replied before calling in a student. The door knocked and she jumped up. The door opened and her worst nightmare came true. The school jock entered whith a smirk on his face. "Hi!" he said extending his hand. "I am Louis Tomlinson, year 11." She panicked. Her mind blanked out on her. He was the school jock, he would never stop harassing her. She turned to face Mr Jarrar, ignoring the jock's hand and said
"I am sure this is not necessary. I should go now or I will run late for class." Having said that she dashed out of his room leavin both of them in utter shock. Louis looked at the counsellor with a hint of humiliation in his eyes. "Well that went well, didn't it?", he joked. The bell rang and he ran to his class closing the door behind him. What a good start for the day!
