You will all be staying here till 3:00. Hope that it gives time to reflect on your actions. Sam, stop smiling, its not a good thing to be in detention the first day of school and Louis, I have nothing to say to you. And to Miss Fiona, I hope this does not become a common occurence.

It ws then that Louis looked at her. She was crying. He thought Sam was lying but now he believed it.

Louis entered the after-school detention room quite happily. It was the only time when he could be with himself alone without  anyone bothering him about anything. No one hovering over him, no one talking to him. It was mostly just him alone in the room with Mr Jarrar. It gave him the time to practice his guilty pleasure- song writing. He walked over to his usual table on left of the class right next to the window. That place was quite an inspiring place for him. He could look out at the sun and the trees swaying slightly and the birds flying. Cheesy but inspiring. He would sit there, look out and pour down his feelings on a piece of paper which would go to the corner of his locker, never to be seen again. As soon as he sat down there, the door opened and someone entered.

Fiona had a hectic day and was on the edge of breaking down. First the detention , then having to sit outside during the lunch because no one wants to sit with the freak show and after that, having to go to the nurse's office because of her asthma. The more she tried to remain in the shadows, the more light she recieved. Now, she was the asthma having-freakshow. She entered the detention room with a frown. She wanted to go and see her brother but had to delay it because of this stupid detention. She looked around the room, looking for a good seat. She saw a ruggish brown haired guy sitting next to the window focusing on a piece of paper in front of him. She was happy that he hadn't noticed her. She walked to the opposite side and sat down, making no noise at all. She was just settling when the door opened and her nightmare came true. Sam Millers entered the room.

He went directly to Louis, completely ignoring Fiona. He sat on the table next to Louis's, removed the earphones and put them in his bag.

                     Sup, homie?

Louis looked up, he was completely lost in his world and didn't notice that two people had entered the room. He was confused. Normally, he was the only one. Someone had managed to get in trouble.

                      Yea, whatever.

He quickly put the paper under his book and started doodling on his chemistry book. He had expected total peace for the next 2 hours but that was not gonna happen if Sam was with him. It's not that he didn't like Sam, it was just the fact that he was loud and annoying. He thought he was being funny but he was just being a douche. He started talking to him about girls and how they want him. This was the worst thing about Sam. He had no respect for girls. He treated them as toys which he would play with until they become old. Then, he would throw them. But Louis was different. He respected girls. Maybe, because he himself had 5 sisters. He knew that whatever kind of behaviour he had with other girls, his sisters would be treated the same way by someone else. So, it was his rule to never play with a girl's heart. And that is why he was annoyed by Sam. He kept speaking about how many girls he hooked up with during the summer.

Dude, I don't care. Can you shut up now ?

He started doodling again and then noticed the second person in the room apart from him and Sam. It was the same girl he had seen in the morning. She just sat there, reading a book. She was reading a letter sort of thing inside the book. She looked like a peaceful angel, sunlight falling on her hairs which created a barrier between her and him. He was knocked out of his thoughts by Mr Jarrar's stern voice.

"You will all be staying here till 3:00 . Hope this gives you time to reflect on your actions for why you got here on the veryy first day of school. Especially you, Miss Fiona. "

That was when Louis came to know her name. Fiona. He liked it.

Fiona felt embarassed. Her cheeks flushing. Why did everyone had to focus on her? Mr Jarrar left the class and she started reading the letter she was reading earlier. It was a letter by her yonger brother- Dan. He was the only person she worried about. He was 9 years old ans was living with social care people. While she was in rehab, he was moved to the social care and wasn't allowed to meet Fiona  as her doctor's thought it was not safe. How could they even think that she would hurt the only person who she trusted. So, he wrote her letters to tell her about his everyday life. Now that she was out of rehab, she could see him weekly. She was looking forward to seeing him today but had to postpone the visit due to todays detention. She sat there and was thinking of her time in rehab. It was the worst time of her life. The doctor's kept reminding her of her past and told her to forget about it. How was that possible? And then, they seperated her from Dan. Thinking about all this made her sad and a tear escaped from her eye. It was like her life was never going to get better. Something or the other had to go wrong. Tears rolled down her cheek and she wiped them before those jocks could see and make fun of her. But it was too late.

      Sam nudged Louis .

     Hey, look. The nutjob's crying.

Aww, are you missing your mommy? Or is it normal for you to cry, gothgirl ?

"Sam, shut up". Louis was annoyed. Why did he always have to create a mess. ?

Fiona tried to ignore him but just couldn't. He wouldn't shut up.

Crying is not going to help you bitch.

Fiona stood up angrily and said "Shut up. Or else"

What are you gonna do. Drown me in your tears?

Can't tell you. It would ruin the suspense.

She moved forward andpushed him sending him back. He got back up and pushed here, almost breaking her back. They got into a big fight and Louis just stood there confused. When Fiona got hurt and her lip started bleeding, Louis tried to stop the fight but both of the punched him, right in the chest. He,again, tried to stop Sam . Mr Jarrar came in and pulled both of them apart. He sent them to the nurse's room and called their parents to school.  Louis and Fiona knew they were in trouble. Sam couldn't care less. Fiona had planned to lay low and now, she knew the whole schoold would know her. She wasn't worried about that , what she really was worried about is her brother. maybe, her violent behaviour in school might make the doctors change their mind and not let her meet her brother. She was so ticked off. Also, she had left her boook open with the letter in it. She didn't get a chance to hide it in her bag or take her bag from the class. Her lip was  bleeding and she had a small bruise above her right eye. Her mind had become a kaleidoscope of worries. She knew they would call the social care for her as she had no parents. She didn't wanna go back to rehab.

Louis just took a blow to his chest. The Nurse applied some erythromycin on it and let him go. He went running to the detention, got his bag and was about to leave when he saw that Fiona had left behind the paper she was reading. He knew that if he left it here, someone else would take it only to make fun of her. So, he walked over to her place, gathered the papers on her table and put them in her bag. He couldn't help but notice that the papers she was reading were written in a child's handwriting. Strange. He took her bag with her mobile in it and left the class. He was going back to nurse's to return Fiona's belonging when he saw her leaving.

Why does she get to go ?

Her doctor insists on taking her for an analysis. So she can go but you two will stay here till your parents come. Mr Jarrar was not in a good mood.

Louis couldn't run behind a car to return the bag, so he decided to keep it. He took out all his books, put it in Fiona's bag and kept it in his locker. He exchanged it so that no one would know that he had her bag. His parents came, talked to the principal and took him home. He had after-school detention for next 3 weeks as a punishment. So did, Sam. And Fiona had 4 weeks of lunch-time detention. They were not in the same detention . Thankfully.
