Chapter 5 Entering Wu

At jiangxia, lord Liu bei received news that sun quan lord of Wu , had send lu su to send condolence gifts. Liu qi was surprised as sun quan's  father died due to jing troops. Lord Liu bei took me and liu qi along and went to visit lu su. Lu su enquired to us about cao cao's army strength and his next course of action. Lu su than hinted upon the sun and liu armies to come together as a alliance to fend of cao cao. I was deeply thankful for lu su to bring up the topic and told lord Liu bei than I will cross the river with lu su and convince sun quan to fight Wei. I followed lu su in a boat when the boat was hit by several bamboo holders. When was checked inside it was seen that it was cao cao's war proposal to sun quan to surrender and defeat liu bei. Lu su after seeing this asked me not to reveal cao cao's real army strength to his lord. I agreed. When we reached JiangDong I was asked to send the guesthouse. Lu su however was summoned by sun quan it seems some of the senior civil officials has asked sun quan to surrender. Sun quan than asked lu su to tell zhuge liang to meet him tomorrow. The next day , I arrived in the palace of the lord of wu. Before meeting sun quan I was kept company by all the officials who demanded surrender and were attempting to debate with me. I replied to him " its true that we were defeated but You should also know that my lord used fire to defeat Xiahuo dun army as well as cao ren's army and gave them a deafening defeat". Zhang Zhao than " sir your were also compared to Guan Zhang and Yue yi who are considered geniuses who brought prosperity to their kingdoms. But what have you done for your lord." I replied " Master zhang I thought that sparrows only lived in forest never would I have thought I would find them in the court here. I replied " At least we are trying to fight against cao cao instead of begging for surrender like some people here . Lu fan was also defeated. After all this series of debates I went to see sun quan while walking there lu su warned me again as to not reveal cao cao's real strength. I than met with Sun quan we exchanged our greetings and set down. Sun quan than asked me about cao cao's strength , military and his next course of action. I replied saying " since you asked me straightforward I will tell the truth, cao cao has about million troops." Sun quan was shocked and asked me if there was a mistake in the number? I replied "no let me break it down, after defeating yuan shao , cao cao absorbed 300 to 400 thousand troops and trained them into his army. After conquering jingzhou he absorbed over 300 thousand troops and has over million troops now." I continued with saying "cao cao's has over 300 generals in which 30 of them are the chief generals." " His next course of action is to cross the river and attack the Southland." Sun quan than asked me to decide for him to fight or surrender. I replied " saying if you have the power than you can stand up against cao cao if not surrender. Sun quan heard this and stood up and left. So did the rest than Lu su and scold me for being so rude. I told him that I am dying to share plans to defeat cao cao but he did not ask me that why I did not mention it. Lu su went to see his lord who was very annoyed and asked lu su to tell me to leave of my accord. Lu su than told me what I told him and sun quan thought that zhuge liang was purposely provoking him. He immediately went to see me and asked me for my plans to defeat cao cao. I than explained" cao cao total amount of troops is a million but this force is not that fearsome. Even though he seized jing most of the soldiers hate him for the death of their lord(liubiao) ,the rape of their woman and the lost of their homes, even though they have joined cao cao their hearts are not with him and after scoring much victories the cao army has gone very arrogant so in my estimation over half of the cao army is discontent the other half is arrogant. And after minus cao cao's flaws cao cao really only has 100000 troops dont you think that the Sun-Liu alliance will defeat cao cao with ease? Sun quan heard my words and was greatly enlightened and ordered lu su to summon all civil and military officials to a meeting to discuss war and peace as zhou yu (styled gongjin) the grand commander of wu is arriving from chaisang.
