- - Hooray, new series. My friend has basically been busting my ass for me to hurry up and write this story. So now, several months later, do I take action to her commands. In any case, this is my first ever werewolf/vampire story, so be kind to me. XP - -
JACK~
Pacing doesn't solve anything! thought high school junior Jack Winter. Yet here he was, pacing back and forth like we've seen people in stress do quite often. He once tried pacing a while ago, which he concurred was completely pointless and didn't solve anything. The thing was, once he started, it was almost impossible to persuade him to stop.
It's just a new transfer student. Why the hell am I stressed?
Jack concluded that he was simply out of his mind, and worrying over nothing. Still pacing and deep in over-flowing thoughts, the opening of the door made Jack nearly jump out of skin. But it did not stop the pacing.
"You're doing that again? How cliché."
In walked tall and spiky-haired Ace Waters, carrying his schoolbag in one hand and an almost empty water bottle in the other. The cool and mischievous smile that played on Ace's mouth should have been enough to calm anyone down, but Jack was too busy pacing.
"You got the files?" Jack asked anxiously, ignoring Ace's entering comment.
"Of course. I am the school body president. If I can't get something done around this joint, I have a very frightful view of what the rest of you losers would do." The tall teenager replied with class, a hint of sarcasm creeping into his words.
"Shaddup! I'm Alpha, and you know it." Jack retorted angrily, his pace not stopping.
"Very true, but your political views are horrendous." Ace fired back with a smirk.
"Whatever. Let me see the files."
"Or I could just tell you what you need to know."
"I'll pass. You're homosexual voice is getting on my nerves." Jack stopped pacing to stand next to the table where Ace put his schoolbag, but in its place, he tapped his foot furiously.
Ace flinched at his words. "You gotta be so harsh about it?" He opened his case and pulled out the student files. "We homos have feelings, you know."
"Feelings get in the way of things," Jack said casually, like he said this often. He took the files from Ace with hands he didn't know were shaking until then.
Why am I so nervous? So what? It's a new kid. Sure I know nothing about him, but he's probably a nobody. Jack thought as he started to open the file's manilla envelope folder.
"Fair warning: the guy's super cute." Ace said with caution, but Jack could tell he was grinning. Jack rolled his eyes and opened the folder labeled: Cryss Evans. But Jack really should've listened, because one look at the new student's picture profile made Jack's own heart go pitter-patter.
Bright blue eyes. That was the first thing Jack noticed about the boy. Long black hair hung in strands on his perfectly pale face, and Jack spotted fading freckles. What surprised Jack the most was how young the boy looked. Is he seriously a junior in high school?!
"Weeeeeeell? Whadd'ya think? Cute, isn't he?" Ace broke the silence.
Jack cleared his throat, covering for his previous loss of words. "Well," he began, "he doesn't look like he could be from another pack that wants to challenge us. Which is a good thing."
Ace smiled. "See. You were worrying over nothing after all. I mean, come on, look at him." He purred.
Jack looked at the picture again. "Yeah, he's...."
He was probably going to say something lame like "interesting", but had his sentence finished by someone else.
"A nobody."
Jack and Ace turned their heads to the door, to see a tall blonde boy standing in the doorway, a blank expression on his face.
"Dak!" They said at the same time. Although Ace looked a little more worried than Jack.
"H-how long have you been standing there?" Ace asked nervously, blushing a little.
"About the time when Jack opened the file. I had no idea you were a homo, Ace. Now I do." The blonde boy said passively, but a grin of mockery was forming at the corner of his mouth.
Ace's face reddened a little more. "You don't know what you're talking about. I'm not.... I'm not..."
"Don't bother. I don't really give a shit. You're not interested in me, are you?" The boy pressed.
Ace's brow furrowed. "Are you kidding me? No!"
"Then we're all cool. But back to important things, have you stopped biting your nails over the new transfer, Jack?"
Jack's face hardened, as he does have a quick temper. "I didn't bite my nails, thanks. But yeah, my rest is assured. The guy's a total-"
"Uke." Ace finished for Jack, a small grin on his face.
"Oh, I see how it is." Dak fake-pouted.
"The hell in an uke?" Jack wondered aloud.
Ace sighed. "If you don't know, than nevermind."
"Anyways," Dak said, changing the subject, "your girlfriend's coming over, dude."
"She's not my girlfriend. And I already know Meagan's coming over at lunch." Jack huffed.
"She's coming out all the way to an all-male boarding school just to see you? Sounds like a girlfriend to me." Dak ran a hand carelessly through his hair.
The bell rang for homeroom, breaking the tension from Jack and the subject of Meagan. For once in his life, Jack was glad he had to go to class. Even if he was using it as an excuse for breaking an awkward conversation.
Dak walked away, probably going to class, while Ace bumped Jack on the arm and muttered, "Good luck, dude. Looks like new kid's in your homeroom."
- - Well, that's Chapter One. Was it good? Was it bad? Do you like it? Do you want to shank your computer screen with a hatchet yelling: "WTF DID I JUST READ??!!!" Which might be harsh, but I can understand *maybe*. Feedback please!!! - -
