Chapter 1: "Things Gained and Things Lost, a murderous elephant regrettably being a part of the former category."

As I come to my senses, I manage to make out a conversation. Who is talking, however, I don't know.
"MSS? It can't be! I thought that was just a theory!" A girl shouts from quite close.
"Well, that's the best explanation we have right now, and frankly, we don't have much time left. What's Snow doing?" I think that's... A guy's voice?
Another voice, from further away, becomes much clearer.
"S-Sorry Miss, but... Um... we d-don't have the t-time to explain it all right now." Another girl, it sounds like. Is that Snow? Wait, no, I'm Snow, aren't I? No, I'm Rain.
Wait, what was all of that? Oh, right, I'm Arashi, the guy who's just been slammed through a wall. I almost forgot about that.
A sudden, dreadful noise, like a thousand roaring beasts, reverberates throughout the hallway. Hallway? I was just in my class... Oh, right, thrown through a wall.
This is surprisingly not painful. Not as painful for being thrown through several inches of wall as I'd expect. Now, if only my eyes would work. Okay, got it. Open. Cool.
Above me stand two children, probably my age, a boy and a girl. It becomes very quickly apparent that they aren't normal children. The boy wears a long robe, colored grey and brown. He looks like some sort of... Royalty. He has a long sword sheath at his side. That's definitely not normal. His hair is a dark smudge, and then a dark brown as my vision clears further.
The girl is from the far opposite end of the spectrum. Did she step out of a science fiction movie? She's... distinctly... Cyberpunk. She's typing on a keyboard on her left arm, with a dark holographic screen floating above it. Her clothing is more... Normal, I suppose, as she is wearing a long coat. The colors, however, are quite alien. The coat is covered with dark purple gradients, the majority of it being deep black, along with her pants. Her hair, short in length, appears to be dark purple. Definitely cyberpunk.
They seem... Familiar, but also not. I'll attribute that to my video games.
