He stands up and focuses his strong eyes on my ice blue ones.
"Come on, I'll show you.", offering one of his scarred hands to pull me up, I accept, and we get going. There's nothing left to pack up from our lunch, so we just get going. Apparently heading towards me and Em's fort.
"How do you know how to get back?" I asked. I wonder if he's a stalker. That would be odd... Especially in the middle of the woods.
He whips around to answer my question, but instead, his face contorts into a shocked look.
"What?", I ask- sort of scared for the answer.
"You're bleeding!" He exclaimed, reaching for a large, crimson red, gash on the side of my left arm. Right when his cold, muscular, hands touch my skin, I pull away harshly. The pain hadn't been observed before he had drawn attention to it with his touch...
Memories flood from last night. When I was running, I remember a stinging feeling in this arm when I ran into a large branch with red tipped spikes. Ouch.
Looking down, not knowing what to do with the gushing cut, I remember Emily.
"Come on, no time to waste... I need to see Emily."
He gives me a sharp nod, and turns around briskly- As if he were hurt.
I probably sounded a bit harsher then usual... But Atleast now we're moving. and a shiver runs up my back, as if someone just drew their ice cold finger all the way up my back. What if he's right...
The tree, him, the old man, Emily's mom disappearing, Emily disappearing, the couch- everything just seem so... Related- tied together. What if he's just another person trying to worm into my life and disappear? Or what if he's magic... That thought sounds so silly, so I shove it to the back of my mind.
"Hey, you said you've watched me a lot... What did you mean?" I've sort of wondered. I mean, someones been watching me? That just sounds creepy. I shutter.
"Um... Yeah, I have. But not to do anything bad. Like I said, I always helped you... I just didn't tell you I was there because-" And he stops talking in mid-sentence. He falls to his knees and clutched his gut. Screaming in pain. But it's not his voice when he says, "Please. Please stop!" And then he falls to side, hot tears streaming down his face.
What the heck? Oh my gosh, that's Emily's voice.
