Knock, knock.
Crap, why'd I do that.
Maybe I should've rung the doorbell. Maybe I should just go home.
Maybe they should answer the damn door before I convince myself to turn around and leave.
Looking down at my phone for the time. I'm early. I quickly glance down at my Steve Madden boots and wonder if I'd over dressed.
A skirt's not overdressing, right? I mean, sure, if Taylor caught me in a skirt, she might have thought that she was hallucinating. I don't usually dress up, mostly because I never really cared enough to. But it felt good to have something to do, somewhere to be, a reason to dress up.
I scuff the bottom of my boots on the carpet that was on their porch. Their home was humble, surrounded by a small fence and a small garage next to the house. When I caught sight of their car, I gaped at it for a good two minutes.
While I was staring at the car in deep admiration, with wide eyes and an open mouth, I heard a chuckle from the right, and I immediately closed my mouth and turned, only to end up face to face with Jasper.
"Uh. Hi," I smile shyly at him, unsure what to do, "Um, Wow, I can't believe you have a 1961 Jaguar. It's amazing." I say, stealing a last glance at the car before we walked inside his home.
"You know about cars, huh. Wow, pretty and smart."
I look up at him quickly, seeing that he's got big glasses bordering his eyes, which looked absolutely adorable, and I could feel my face turning into the color of the tomato.
His eyes meet with mine and it seems as though he regretted saying it. His hand flew up to the back of his neck and his eyes focused on the ground. He kept the door open for me and started stuttering like crazy.
"I-I'm so sorry, I-uh-probably shouldn't have said that, like I said, I'm not a real people person. Um.." He trails off, and after a few seconds, his gestures for me to go inside, "So, yeah, welcome to our humble abode." He gives me a small smile, his blue eyes piercing a hole through me.
I look at him. Like really look at him. The big, black frames of his glasses fit his facial structure perfectly, but it's still easy to see his beautiful, striking blue eyes through them. He was wearing a dress shirt, which were tucked into his dark skinny jeans, with a belt keeping it all up. But surprisingly, Jaspers shoes were what I loved the most; dress shoes.
"Ahem-," Jasper lets out, causing me to snap out of my trance. "You know, you're not subtle."
"Shut up."
"Hello, Samantha!" Vincent walks in right on cue.
"Hi, Mr.Kane!" I say, extending my hand, he does the same but stops abruptly before we reach each others hands.
"Ah, ah, ah, please. Call me Vincent." He smiles at me warmly, and I return the smile. We shake hands as I nodded in agreement. I was suddenly washed over by an amazing aroma.
"Mmm, what that smell?" I say, obviously attempting to compliment the chef.
"Ah, yes, we made a-well, Jasper made something very delicious."
I turned to Jasper, whose face turned a dark shade of red.
"You cook?" I say, a smile forcing its way onto my face. With an eyebrow raised, I asked what we were having for dinner. They led me into the dining room and their home was bigger than it look on the outside.
They had an average size living room, with a flatscreen on one side of the room, and the soft-looking, plush, dark grey couch on the other. The lights were somewhat dimmed and everything seemed to be close together, causing a cozy-like atmosphere in the house.
I took off my coat-yes, my coat-and placed it on the coat rack by the entrance. I was called over to the kitchen, where Jasper was starting to put on a kitchen apron.
An actual frackin' kitchen apron.
Seriously, how have I not seen this guy before?
I tried my best not to stare at him and try to take in the kitchen style instead. The marble on the counter was breathe-taking and three lights were dangling over the counter, where the sink and stove was. It was all placed in the middle of the large room, and yet there was still enough space to move around freely.
"You have a really beautiful house." I say in barely a whisper, still taking in how great it all looks.
"Why, thank you. Me and my son, we worked very to make this house as good as it can be. You see, my wife, she is currently away, she's been away for the past few years and we bought this house right before she left. She left this house when it was broken down, it was an absolute mess, and we know how much hard work she goes through and she hasn't been home in years. We visit her sometimes but it's not the same. She will be coming home at the end of next month, and when she comes home, I'm very sure she'll be pleased by the surprise."
My heart was so touched by his story, and it felt as though I was jealous of their love.
"Um, wow, that-that is just so amazing. I'm so, so happy for you, that you found someone you love that much, it's just amazing." I say, my voice strained.
I took a quick glance at Jasper, who was already looking at me. My heart almost melted but I didn't show it. Instead, I gave him a soft smile. Jasper turned of the stove, his eyes never leaving mine.
He gave a toothy smile to both me and his father, "Dinners ready."

Laughter filled the dining room and I couldn't remember the last time I had laughed this much. The food had all disappeared the moment it was set on the table; it was absolutely amazing.
Jasper cooked his famous Alfredo noodles with mushroom and chicken, also with cheddar cream broccoli soup on the side. I'm obviously stuffed.
"Oh, my goodness, that was absolutely amazing. Where'd you learn to cook like that?" I say, adjusting my skirt from under the table. Jasper was sitting across from me and Vincent was next to him.
"I taught myself." He smirked at me, taking a sip of his Coca Cola.
"No way, where'd you learn how to teach yourself?" We both looked at each other with our eyebrows raised and it took me about a split second that that made absolutely no sense. "Well, that was a stupid question." I mumble, my eyes avoiding his.
I caught him smiling from the corner of my eye and I couldn't help but smile.
"Well, Jasper learned when my wife, Jane, left to go to New York for her writing. The first week, we had gone out to dinner every single day, so Jasper thought-"
"That someone had to learn how to cook." Jasper finished off for his father, giving him a small, toothy smile. Their relationship was so heartwarming, it reminded me of how my father and I were.
"Is it hard to be apart?" I blurt out before I could stop myself, "I'm sorry, that's none of my business." I give a small, shy smile before looking down at my food.
"No, no, please, I love talking about my wife. Yes, it is hard, very hard. And I will admit, there have been some major problems because of the distance, but love...love pulls through." Vincent says in a daydreamy voice, as if he was thinking about her...about their love.
I was so in love with their love. I glanced at Jasper, since I could almost feel his eyes on me, watching my every move. The thought of that made a shiver run up my spine.
"That sounds...absolutely amazing." I say quietly, deeply admiring the idea of love. "I've never been in love." I slip out, and I could feel my face heating up slowly.
"Me neither." I was surprised to hear hear from Jasper, who was staring at me intensely, making another shiver run up my spine and my head light. My heart was beating ridiculously fast, and I didn't know what to do or say.
We stared at each other for a few moments, and just about when I was going to call the moment perfect...
"Well. You guys are missing out." Vincent said bluntly.
We immediately snapped out of the trance by Vincent and his cluttering plates that he was taking to the kitchen.
Talk about awkward.
"So, uh. How long have you guys been here again? Because I don't think I've really seen you around at all and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed you before," I silently curse myself for saying that, "I mean, you would've been hard to forget. I mean-uh-I'm just going to stop talking now, I'll just, uh-." I stutter, and I could see his face contort from confusion to amusement.
"Samantha," He whispers ever so slightly while getting up off his chair and leaning toward me, "Relax."
He swiftly picks up his plate and makes his way to the kitchen, while I sit there in a daze.

"Bye, Vincent! I had a great time and a great dinner." I walk back to the front door, Jasper following suit, "This has honestly been so fun." I smile back and extend my hand out to shake his, and he immediately grasps it and shakes it, sending me a sincere smile.
"Good, good, we must do this again!" He smiles, and gives me a last wave goodbye.
I smile and walk towards the door, putting my coat back on and zipping it up while Jasper kept the door open for me. I smiled shyly at him and we both walked outside.
"Well, this has been fun." He says bluntly, pushes his glasses up with his index finger.
I smile at him, arching an eyebrow. "Yeah, it has been, honestly."
"We should do this again."
"Really?" I say, a bit shocked.
"Why are you so surprised that I said that?" He chuckles at me, and then he does something really sweet. "But honestly, you should text me," he says while taking my zipper, and zipping up my coat all the way up. I could feel my face heating up.
"Oh, what, you want me to text," I say while taking out my phone, pretending to read off of it, "JasperIsSexy?"
"Well, you obviously don't hate it or think it's untrue."
"Why do you say that?" I say, a smile tugging at my lips.
"Because you didn't change the name." He gave me a smirk, while I roll my eyes and start chuckling quietly. "But seriously, we should do this again. And next time, without my dad."
"Yeah, we should." I grin, starting to walk away backwards until I turn around.
"Oh, and Sam?" I turn around quickly to see Jasper only one foot away from me, "Cute skirt."
Then he leaned down, planting a kiss on my cheek.
