"Jasper, don't you dare let go of me," I shriek at my date, who was currently ice-skating backwards like a freaking pro, "If I fall, so help me, I will take you down with me."

I was grabbing onto his coat sleeve so tight, my knuckles probably were white. I wasn't really sure because my mittens were covering my hands, but they weren't really doing a good job of keeping them warm.

I was almost one hundred percent sure my nose was as red as the Rudolph's while my toes were so cold, I'll probably have to cut them off by the end of the night.

"I won't let you go," he grinned at me, and although his nose was frostbitten, it only made his blue eyes pop.

"That's what Rose said in the Titanic," I shivered, "A-and she's a big, fat liar."

His deep, husky chuckle filled the air, and it relaxed me for about 2.1 seconds before my brain went back to focusing on the fact that I cannot ice-skate.

My balance was failing me as my left foot slipped on the ice, making me close my eyes and brace myself for the rough thud that was bound to come.

My eyes were sealed shut, but instead of falling on a freezing, hard surface, I was instead met with two strong arms.

How in the sam hill is he able to skate and catch me at the same damn time?

I let out a sound that came across a shriek and a laugh, which probably sounded completely idiotic.

If it did sound stupid, he didn't show it. He stood there leaning forward, his arms around me while I was leaning backwards, my hair falling behind me, almost reaching the ice.

He slowly pulled me up, his eyes left his breathless while his already rosy cheeks became even redder.

"Are you blushing?" I blurted it and I immediately mentally face-palmed.

His arms quickly left their spots around my waist and looked away, causing me to immediately lose my balance.

In desperation, I attempted to grab his hand for balance, but only ended up slipping and pulling him down above me.

We landed with the sound of our rented ice-skates scraping across the ice below us, and an 'oof' out the both of us.

I look around as my back lay flat on the ice, and I see people skating, falling and staring.

Jasper propped himself on his hands, hovering over me. He shoulders were shaking, and when he faced me, there was a giant smile plastered on his face.

The smile slowly faded, until there was only a small glint of amusement in his eyes.

"I just...I just had my breathe knocked out of me," he stared straight into my eyes, his face only mere inches away from mine, "And it wasn't because of the fall."

My breathe hitched in my throat, and I could feel blood rushing to my numb cheeks.

We stayed there like that for what seemed like hours, ended up being only a minute.

Then, a smirk broke out on his face and I suddenly became self-conscious.

Was there something on my face?

"Now who's blushing?" He quickly said, and before I could playfully hit his arm, he pushes himself off me and skated to the nearest wall.

My jaw slacked and I sat up on my numb butt.

My shocked face slowly disappeared and was replaced by my laughing.

I struggled real hard to get up on my feet; I kept slipping and falling and slipping and falling until I finally gave up.

Throughout all my attempts to stand up on my feet, I could hear Jaspers laugh fill the air, as well as other skaters that were circling around me.

After maybe twelve attempts, Jasper decided to have mercy on my and pulled me up and out of the ice rink.

"Okay," he chuckled, his ears as red as his nose, "I think that's enough suffering and embarrassment for you today."

"Today?" I limp towards one of the benches and pulled off my mitts, "I think that was enough to last the next three years."

I started to untie the laces of my skate when another pair of hands cupped my shaky, frozen ones.

I look up and my eyes met Jasper's icy blue ones, "Here," he gives me a half-smile, "Let me."

"Oh - uh - thank you," I smiled back, pushing a loose strand of my most-likely frizzy hair behind my ear.

"You know," his husky voice fills my ear, "I thought you did pretty well for a first timer."

I almost choked on my own spit. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion before shooting up in realization of what he just said.

"Oh - uh, no, that's - um - not what I meant," he stumbled with his words, while my eyes softened, "I m-meant the skating. The skating."

I chuckled causing his face to turn into a shade of crimson red, "I got it, I guess I'm just dirty minded," I said as he took off my last skate, "And besides, you look adorable when you blush."

Yeah, he blushed.

"I'll never let go, Jack!"

The movie was interrupted by Jasper's deeply amused voice, "This movie's crap."

"That's what I said!" I pointed out, pulling the soft, brown blanket up to cover my shivering arms.

We were currently sitting on Jasper's living room couch watching the Titanic, and before you get any wrong ideas, Vincent is sitting on the small arm chair next to us.

I looked over at Jasper's father, whose eyes were welling up with tears, and I watched in shock as his face became red as he held in his emotions.

"It's...it's just so sad," I heard Vincent mutter under his breathe.

I felt a nudge on my right and I look over to see Jasper smiling at my facial expressions, "Don't worry," he whispers, his minty breathe hitting my face causing a shiver to run down my spine and my senses tingle, "He's the emotional one in this family."

I let out a low chuckle, making sure it wasn't heard by Vincent, "Oh, really? I was almost sure it was you!" I whispered back, sarcasm lacing my voice as I rolled my eyes.

That earned me another nudge, and an adorable attempt to a glare from him.

"Hey, what time is it?" I whisper absentmindedly, fumbling with the soft blanket that I was sharing with my date.

"Eleven," he muttered as he looked at his phone.

My heart dropped while my eyes widened and mouth hung open, "Eleven?"

"Yes?" He asked with an uneasy look on his face.

"My curfew is eleven! If I'm not home now, my brother will lock me out of my house!"

He slowly pushed the blanket off of him, rubbing the back of his neck, "That's a bit cruel, don't you think?"

I was already on my feet, trying to get my boots on as I stumble to gather all my things, "Not to my family. To my family, that is punishment."

A hand grabs mine, making me stop my rushing and start calming down. Then, those hands travel up to my face, forcing me to make eye contact with him. The contact made my knees go weak and a swirling pit in my stomach do a quadruple backflip, and I could feel my breathe hitch in my throat.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hey, hey, listen," he calms me with his soft, low voice, "I'll drive you there and I'll explain to your brother or mother or whoever's home that it was my fault you're late and-."

"Whoa, stop right there, handsome," I lift my hand up in between us, "That is your first mistake. If my brother knows that I was late because of a boy, he'll come to the wrong conclusion and probably kill both of us."

Jaspers facial expression distorted from calm to panicked. His eyebrow was arched while his eyes were wide and jaw was slacked.

"Okay. New plan. You stay here tonight," his hands were on my shoulders now as he looked me straight in the eye, and to my surprise, he looked completely serious.

"Jasper!"

"What?"

"T-that's totally inappropriate!"

A grin appeared on his face, making me take a step back in confusion.

"You are dirty minded. I was thinking you'd sleep on my bed and I'd crash on the couch, but if that's the way you roll then I'm fine with it," he chuckles, probably taking advantage of my tomato-red face.

"Just...just give me a second," I say before pulling out my phone and checking the time. Instead, I found a couple messages from Danny.

10:48 p.m.
From Danny:

You better haul ass or I'm going to be forced to lock you out, sis.

11:06 p.m.
From Danny:

Sorry, sis. Better find somewhere else to stay tonight.

Crap.

I look up to find Jasper looking at me expectantly as I let out a sigh of defeat.

"Do you have any pjs I could -"

"Yes! Uh - I mean - ahem, yes I do...have pajamas," he awkwardly fumbles with his words, and the though of spending the night here was enough to make my heart burst.

"Wait, what about your dad?"

We both turn around to face the old man in the living room, only to see him knocked out on the couch while the movie credits were rolling.

We face each other and Jasper gave me a small shrug and a smug look, "I don't think he'll mind."
