I walk out of my room and into the hallway. I can hear the bolt on the door locking as Maya shuts it behind her. Now that she's gone I march over to Joshs room and open the door without knocking.
"What did you do to her?" I ask and there's no response.
Josh has his music playing loudly and his playing some game on his computer.
"JOSH, WHAT DID YOU DO TO MAYA?" I shout and the time he hears me.
"God Riley could you try knocking." He says annoyed.
"Well even if I did you wouldn't of heard me." I reply.
"If you wanna know what happened you can ask her." He says as he goes to turn the music back on.
I run over and grab his arm just before he has the chance.
"She went home Josh so you can start explaining yourself." I say as I lean against the wall scowling at him.
"Fine. She asked me about some bet you told her about, thanks for that by the way, and I told her I had nothing to do with it and she got mad because she thought I was lying."
"Why do you have to be such an idiot all the time. Don't you realise how hard it's been for Maya over the past year. Since she lost her mum she finds it really hard to get close to people. She puts this wall up because she's afraid that she will get hurt." The angry look on his face leaves and I can see the regret starting to cover his face. "If you actually took the time to get to know her maybe you wouldn't be having this problem."
"Fine where is she." He says.
"She's walking home. If you run you can probably catch her." Josh stands up and grabs his coat from his closet.
"Hey, if you hurt her I hurt you, you got it?" He laughs and runs out the door.
