Kenny's POV

"You sure you put the amulets in the right lockers?" I asked my sister Leya. She looked back at me from her gaze into the classroom, pulling a piece of black hair out of her face. Her green eyes met my brown ones as she said "Of course I did Kenny. Now, just wait. They go back into classrooms at the end of the day, and I know both of them are in this exact room. We just have to wait.". As we both turned back to the window, I ran a hand through my curly brown hair, making some strands fall into my eyes. I just brushed them back, keeping my eyes focused on the brunette we were supposed to be watching. I thought I saw her eyes meet mine, so I immediately turned away and pressed my back to the brick wall beside me. "What's going on? You look like you've just seen a ghost." Leya asked me, looking me dead in my eyes. "It's nothing sis. Let's go to their house after school and learn more about them. Hopefully, their family will like us and we'll make friends." I said, standing up quietly. Leya followed me as we walked to the south side of town, towards their house.

When we arrives at their house, I looked at my watch and saw it was 2:42. My sister had changed into furry boots, jeans, a grey t-shirt and a golden necklace. I was in a similar outfit, but I didn't have any jewelry, I was in tennis shoes and my shirt was black. Leya knocked on the door and the girl's mom opened it with a smile. "Hello, are you two new in town?" she asked us, her bright blue eyes sparkling. "Yeah, we're the new neighbors down the road. I'm Leya and this is Kenny, my brother." she said, her social anxiety not bothering her at all. She doesn't normally talk to people we don't know, but she must've cast a spell to help her, being favored by the goddess of magic and all. "Come in you two, it must be cold out there." their mom said, opening the door wider to allow us in. We knew we had to tell her about her daughters now, or we'd never get the chance again.

"So what you're saying is; my daughters have the ability to see things I can't? And they're able to use magic?" the twin's mom said, pacing back and forth across their living room. Surprisingly, her voice was calmer than either of us expected it to be after what we just told her. "Yes, and they need to come with us so monsters and evil things don't end up being the end of them." I started, glancing over to Leya to finish the thought. She smiles back and added quickly, "The specific god or goddess who favors her can watch over and protect her, and that should help for a little while.". As soon as my sister said that, the frantic pacing stopped and she stared out their giant windows. "Is there any Egyptian bloodline in your family?" I asked, standing up showing Leya that we should get going soon. She copied the gesture as the girl's mom said, "I think so, either that or some other North African country.".

"Thanks ma'm. You've been of good help." Leya said, her voice calm and smooth. She was playing to the tone that their mom wanted to hear; she's good at reading people's emotions and playing to what they want to hear. The girl's mom smiles at us and asked, "Would you two like to stay until they get home from school? It's shouldn't be too much longer.". I shook my head while smiling and said "No thanks. We can come back tomorrow and talk to them then.". We smiled and said our goodbyes, then ran down the street to create a portal to tell the others about how we knew there were magicians here in this small town.

Thanks for reading the second chapter of my Egyptian mythology story! This is partially inspired by Rick Riordan, who wrote the Kane Chronicles, a book about initiates and Egyptian mythology. Credit for the idea goes to him, but all the characters (except for the gods and goddesses of course) are mine and original. I hope to see you guys in the next chapter, and until then, keep reading and writing!
