Andrea's POV
"But I don't even know where it came from!" I yelled, turning my back to my parents, golden necklace in hand.
"Look, we both got one at school; they were in our lockers." Brooke said, standing right behind me.
"Did you see anyone by your lockers?" our dad asked, his voice deadly serious.
"Nope." Brooke and I said at the same time, walking off to our shared room and shutting the door behind us. We climbed into our beds, Brooke hit the light, and we fell asleep.
(Andrea's dream)
That night I dreamed of water. In my dream I was floating/flying above the Nile river. I looked to my left and saw a woman next to me, but she looked almost like an older version of me. I knew right away who the woman was, she was Anket. She looked over at me with a smile and said, "My dear Andrea, you must trust Leya and Kenny. They're trying to help you discover your path in life, as well as protect you."
I felt my eyes water up, not because I was scared, but because I felt like I finally belonged somewhere. "Andrea, don't cry, I favor you over anyone else. You have the power to bring life and death to whomever you choose." Anket said to me, embracing me and wiping a tear away from my face.
I didn't try to pull away, and for some reason, I knew she was right and I could trust her. "T-thank you f-for choosing me as your 'favored person'." I stammered, moving back and looking into her ocean blue eyes.
She met the gaze and replied, "It was your fate."
Then everything faded to black...
(Brooke's dream)
I was standing beside a fire, looking into a pitch black and starless sky."Well, well, well. If it isn't my dear Brooke." I heard a voice say from behind me.
I whirled around and saw a man standing there, and for some reason, I knew who he was. The Egyptian god of Chaos, Set or Sutekh. I took a few steps backwards, yelling at him, "You're evil!"
He slowly walked closer to me, black eyes meeting my brown ones as he said, "Brooke, I'm not evil. There was a prophecy telling of twins, one good and destines to save and the other evil and destined to be my warrior. The evil twin is my warrior of Chaos, someone who will bring the gods down from their thrones."
I felt my back hit something like a wall, and with every passing second after, Set was drawing closer. "Stop S-set! I'll never be your 'warrior of chaos' or whatever you called me! Not now, not ever!" I yelled, but Set was right in front of me.
"Too late Brooke. From the moment you and your sister were born, your destiny was set in stone." he said laughing, and before I knew it, his hands gripped my shoulders tightly.
I screamed, and with that, my nightmare faded to black, but my scream kept faintly ringing.
(Andrea's POV)
I woke up to our cat Akai laying on me and my sister's soft crying coming from her bed. "Brooke?" I asked hesitantly, climbing out of my bed and walking over to hers.
I saw her curled up, hugging her pillow, which she only does when she's sad or upset about something. I sat down at the end of her bed, and immediately felt her foot kick my hip. "Go away Andie." she said, and I replied sassily with "Fine Brooke, you can mope in peace."
Just before I layed back down on my bed, we both heard our mom call "Andrea, Brooke! There's two kids out here who are starting in your grade that wanted to meet you!"
I looked back over to Brooke and rolled my eyes when our gazes crossed. I stood up and grabbed some clothes out of our closet while Brooke ran off to the bathroom to get changed and put on makeup. When she came back she was wearing a black skirt and a white tank-top/crop-top with crossing straps in the back. I was wearing dark wash jean shorts and a blue tank-top. I grabbed my brush to brush out my chestnut brown to blonde hair as Brooke did the same to her light blonde hair. A few minutes later our mom called for us and we went out to see the new kids.
(Kenny's POV)
As soon as I saw them, I noticed one of the two girls has a very multicolored aura and the other had a tricolored aura. "Girls, this is Kenny and Leya, the two kids." their mom said, gesturing to the two of us individually as she said our names.
Both of the girls were our height, but the one with the more colorful aura had quite a bit of muscle and auric strength radiating off of her. "I'll leave the four of you to get to know each other. I have to go out anyway." the girl's mom quickly said, grabbing her keys by the sound of it and heading out the door.
"So, you two are new to this town?" the blonde girl asked, holding out her hand for us to shake. "I'm Brooke, and this is Andrea."
"Andie." her sister corrected, then she also held out her hand to shake. We decided to be polite, so we shook their hands and exchanged smiles.
"So, why did you two come and see us then? I know that Brooke's popular and all, with student council and things, but still." Andie said, walking over to the couches and sitting down, turning back to face us again.
As the rest of us walked over, I could tell she was sizing us up. She must've sensed our power and thought we wanted to hurt someone or even her. Then I saw her eyes. There was something different about them, something that made me think she saw Leya and I differently and possibly with our auras surrounding us, which is something only magicians can do. Her blue -slash- green eyes were slightly glazed over. "Clearly, one of you," Leya said as she gestured to Andie, who had snapped out of her 'trance'. "can see something not normal about Kenny and I."
At the mention of that, Andie smirked a little and leaned backwards in her chair. "You two have prominent auras, which is unlike anything I've seen before." she said, making both of us glance at the other.
"Yes, and that's because we're Egyptian magicians. You two have Egyptian blood and the gods wanted us to help you recognize that." I said, my accent coming into play. I hated being from New York, but what can you do about that?
Brooke's face told us she wasn't sure how to process what we'd just said, while her sister still had her smile. The hint of worry and fear was coming through in her eyes, but she hid it well with her body language.
"Andie, your interests make sense now!" Brooke said, snapping out of her state and nudging her sister's shoulder.
"What interests?" I asked, leaning forward a little on my elbows so they slightly pressed into my knees.
Her sister looked down at the ground quickly and quietly said, "I love mythology, especially Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian."
She quickly stood up out of her seat and beckoned us to follow her to her room, or I guessed, and we all followed quickly; Leya and I interested in what she had to say.

Over 1,000 words without an author's note! Longest chapter in this book? Maybe, but I have some ones that might top this. Sorry there haven't been updates recently to this book, mainly for one reason. I have this book written in a notebook, and I lost it while cleaning my room. I couldn't find it, and now I did! Updates to this will fit into the schedule posted in the second chapter of the book on short stories and one shots. I will update at different points during the day, mainly whenever I can. Stay tuned for an update next week, as there a possibility of it!
