the story starts from a tiny seed
solve a mystery follow a trail
take a ride on a spaceship
follow a mans journey through the world
root for the antagonist on his trip
solve a murder with clues the stories provide
read about a real event
get lost in a romance, let yourself cry
flip through a childrens book
about a monkey and his owner in a yellow hat
or pick a book about a dinosaur
even a book about a cat
love the enemy hate the hero
i choose where in their world i will be
i can be another character or one of my own
i choose what i can see
the world created by words on a page
i can form them in my head
greens are greener and blues are bright
valleys are deep and trees are dead
fights scenes are epic
and deaths are tragic
births are gruesome growing up hard
aliens are ugly fairies dragons and magic
just pick a book and get lost
read it from beginning to end
let yourself create a world
where all the rules are allowed to bend
maybe even try a poem
how the words flow soft on the ear
it can still form a story
of life love even fear
i enter another world there
with talking animals and a super hero
something my world has yours has zero
it may not mean much to you
but to me a book means so much more
its a door to another world
it's my way to escape yours.
