I wake feeling refreshed. Today is the day I get my diploma and the day I'm finally finished with college. I don't know what I was thinking, but I now have a major in business. What am I going to own? Peeta's family own a bakery, maybe I could own one too. Except I would find more employees and Peeta would be In Charge because I can't bake. But maybe he won't want to do that. Something to speak about later I suppose. I get out of my bed, and I look at my luggage by the door. Peeta and I agreed on going to New York after graduation. Not my home town, he wants to go to New York City. He has this thing about big cities. We went last year after Christmas to New York and a Peeta love it. I can't wait to go back. We got an apartment there that Plutarch demanded he pay for. Because, and I quote,
"If you kids get one on your budget, you will end up in a bad neighborhood and both be shot in a Week."
Sohe got us an apartment that overlooks the river. It's supposed to be a nice and peaceful area, with a lot of nice people. Hopefully he is right. I get in the shower, not taking my time this morning because I want to get ready to graduate. I have a very pretty red dress with orange and yellow in the sides. I guess you could say it suggests flames, licking their way up my side and on to my hips. I love the design a lot and the material feels so smooth against my fingers. I go to the bathroom and I get in the shower. When I got back last night from the bakery, I went straight to bed without a shower. The warm water feels good against my cold skin, since I have now been keeping my window open. Peeta sometimes comes into my dorm, usually because I will call him and tell him about a nightmare. Sometimes he has the nightmare. He tells me his nightmares are about losing me, so he has to come here to make sure I'm still here. Which I always am. So I have grown really used to just keeping it open. I get out of the shower and get dressed. I don't worry much with my make up, just normal eyeliner, mascara, and I add some orange eye shadow to match my dress. I smile at myself in the mirror, knowing Peeta will love the orange. My lips are a bright red and my hair dries in its natural curls. I hear a knock on my door, pulling me out of the restroom. Before I answer, I step into red flats. I open the door, expecting Peeta, but getting Prim instead. I can deal with this. She warps her arms around me.
"Hey Katniss." She says.
"Hey little duck."
"Katniss?" I hear someone say behind Prim. I look up to see all of my friends, my mom, Uncle Haymitch, and Plutarch. I am engulfed in a giant hug.
"Hey... Need.... Air..." I get out and everyone lets go. Then I see someone I haven't seen in a long time. His grey eyes meet my own and I move past everyone, getting to him, wrapping my arms around his mid section.
"I missed you." I say.
" Who doesn't miss me." I can hear the smirk in his voice.
"Oh shut up." I say playfully. Then I'm pulled out of Gales grasp and lifted into the air. This could only be one person. Finnick. He spins me around and around until I feel like I'm going to puke.
"Put me down." I say and he does, hugging me.
"What's up Fish Boy." I say. He laughs.
"Gas Prices. The unemployment rate. The sky."
"Okay smart ass." I say but I hug him tighter.
"Katniss you look beautiful." I hear Marvel and Cato say. They come to me, taking me from Finnick and kissing each of my cheeks. I swear this is just their way of say hello to me. I hug them both. Then all the girls rush to me, gushing over how I look.
"This is so pretty." Glimmer states.
"You look like you are on fire!" Clove exclaims.
"You are so beautiful!" Annie hugs me.
"You don't look to bad brainless." I hear Joanna say sarcastically. I just shake my head at her because deep down, I know that she loves me. Then I hear a man's voice.
"I'm hearing a lot about some very pretty girl in this dorm. I just wish I could see her." His voice rings above all the small chit chat. People clear the way so he is directly in front of me, holding some flowers in his hand. Not roses, but very pretty. I hold my hands, looking at the ground. He walks over to me.
"Well I see what everyone has been talking about." He hands me the flowers. I look up at his perfect smile. He is so handsome. He wears a red button down shirt, a black tie, and black pants. Dress shoes to complete his outfit.
"Well you look pretty good yourself." I give him a quick kiss since everyone is here. He got lipstick on his lips from it.
"Now you look pretty too." I poke his lips and he understands. He wipes off the lipstick.
"So are you saying I'm only pretty when I have make up on?" He asks me.
"I think you are beautiful all the time Peeta!" Finnick yells.
"Thanks Boo!" He yells to him. Oh these two.
"Come on guys, we need to get there. We are graduating!" I hold up Peeta's hand in the air, our fingers entwined.
"And we are very proud." My mother says as she leans against Plutarch's shoulder.
"Alright. Let's go!" Finnick yells. He starts leading us all out of my dorm room. I will get my bags after the ceremony. I hear Cato, Marvel, and Joanna start singing.
"Come on Vamos! Everybody lets go!" They sing the song to a little kid show. Dora I think. They sing that until we get out of the building, where they stop before they get to embarrassed.
