I love sunsets. Everything about them intrigues me, wanting to see them over and over again. I also like to just sit and watch the sunset when I've got a lot on my mind, which is the state I'm currently in.

I kick a rock at my spot behind the Hollywood sign, sitting down in the dirt. Jess and I come here almost every night. Sometimes we don't talk at all while others we don't stop talking. I guess it just kind of depends on the day.

"What's bothering you?" Jessica sits next to me and gazes at the sky.

"Nothing, why would you think that?" I fake a confused look.

Jess rolls her eyes. "I know there's always a lot of things bothering you, but it's something else now. Did your mother go out again or something? Is Madison okay?"

"No, she's fine. Dad came to dinner tonight though."

"Seriously?" She scoffs. "I thought he wouldn't come back."

I shrug. "I wanted to see him."

Jess nods. "I know. Lani, you have to realize he's not a nice man."

I look down and bite my lip, knowing fully that she is correct. I just wish she was wrong. I decide to change the subject. "Do you know Ethan Dolan?"

Jessica furrows her brows and cocks her head. "I've talked to him, yeah."

"Well his parents are new partners with my mother and father, I believe. I don't exactly listen to their business lectures."

"How did you know he was their son?" Jess looks down at her phone before rolling her eyes, yet again tonight. "Speak of the devil."

I take her phone from her and read the text on the screen. 'You wanna catch a movie tomorrow? I met your friend Kalani and she's super nice...' Sighing, I hand back her phone and fully answer the previous question. "They all came to dinner tonight."

"Is this what you're caught up on? Ethan is like some famous YouTuber. I bet on the inside he's cocky as Hell. Not everyone can hide behind good looks. I'm not even interested in him." Jess gives me a nudge.

I shake my head and turn towards her. "I don't like Ethan." I lie. "I kissed his twin and then left him standing in my penthouse while I came here."

Jessica stands up abruptly with a sour look on her face. "You what?"

I stand up as well and brush the dirt off. "Jess, I don't want to make him another one of my victims. I think he likes me."

"Maybe he won't be a victim." She shrugs. "Lani, you have to find love in someone other than me and your siblings."

"I don't want it." I retort, knowing well that she knows what happened before.

"You have to forget about him. Get to know Ethan's twin and maybe become more than friends."

"If Ethan's a YouTuber, Grayson's a YouTuber. That means they could both be cocky." I cross my arms over my chest.

"I'll look him up on my phone." She types something into Google and showed me as their Dolan Twins YouTube account showed up. "They are actually pretty famous."

"Yeah." I huff and check my phone to see it was 8:30. "I'll see you at school tomorrow."

"Wow you're actually coming." Jess places a hand over her heart. "A girl's dream come true."

I chuckle and start walking before turning back to her. "You wanna sleep over?"

"Can't tonight. I have Remy. Tomorrow though?"

"It's a plan." I nod and follow the familiar route to my building, ignoring the cat calls directed to me as I pass. I've become accustomed to this language and it's sad to say I sometimes take advantage of it.

I reach the elevator and enter my card for my house, only to stop dead in my tracks to see Grayson sprawled out on my couch.

"Okay, what are you still doing here?" I walk fully in with a glare on my face.

"I wanted to talk." He shrugs, a tiny smirk pulling at his lips.

"I don't." I cross my arms.

"But we kissed." Grayson stands up and walks towards me. "Doesn't that mean something to you?"

I give him a sad smile. "You saw me this morning. Where do you think I came from?"

"I don't know." He shrugs. "You were hungover for sure."

"Exactly. Things happen when you're drunk, Grayson. Waking up next to a random guy isn't exactly a new thing for me." I speak calmly.

"Wow, okay." Grayson bites his lip. "I'm just going to go."

I sigh, running my hands through my hair. "Wait."

He turns around, finger still hovering over the elevator button. "Yeah?"

"I'm just a bit on edge. You saw my family. You can stay if you want. I have ice cream." I gesture towards my kitchen.

Jessica said I should get to know Grayson. Maybe she's right. Maybe he can help me get better.

"Ice cream sounds nice." He nods and walks towards me.

"Okay, great." I open the freezer and hold up a container of chocolate. "Do you like chocolate?"

"Sure." He nods and sits at a stool next to the island.

I get out two spoons and set the carton in front of him. I take the seat across, opening the ice cream and diving in. "Sorry, I'm too lazy to get bowls."

"That's okay. I like it better this way anyways." Grayson grins at me.

I smile and dig in, enjoying the comfortable silence with him. Nothing feels awkward or forced. Yet, I'm not sure if I would say I am attracted to him. I know, weird. They are twins and I only like one.

"I don't mean to be like this. I know I'm a whore. I know I am all the things people call me. I just can't find the will to change." I blurt out.

He looks taken aback, putting the spoon down on the counter. "Kalani, I haven't heard anything about you besides the fact you skip school."

"I also sleep around." I raise my eyebrows, trying to prove how bad I am.

Grayson rolls his eyes and goes back to eating. "So? Could be worse. You could do it for money."

I laugh and shake my head. "You got me there." After a few moments of silence I lick my lips and stare at Grayson. "I like you. You're a nice guy."

"Thanks. I like you too." Grayson grins and puts the spoon back down. "I should probably get going. You also have school tomorrow."

I frown and take the spoons to put in the sink. "I don't want you to go. This is the happiest I've been in awhile."

He smiles and shrugs. "I'm not leaving forever. Give me your phone." I hand him my phone and watch as he puts his number in it. "I'm one call away."

I nod and take my phone back, placing it on the counter. "Thank you."

"For what?" He furrows his brows.

"For being there for me and not running away. It's been awhile since someone genuinely cared."

"Kalani, I am here." Grayson wraps me into a hug.

For a second I just stand there. Hesitantly, I wrap my arms around him and give in. "My friends call me Lani."

"My friends call me Gray." He pulls away and kisses my cheek. "Go to school tomorrow. I'll see you later."

He walks into the elevator and leaves, giving me a sense of hope. I've been at a low mood for quite a while, yet I think I may actually make it back up again.
