Emery's clearly expressed delight filled me with joy, my eyes following her hair as it bounced with her to the kitchen, gold in the dim light. She would tell her father of my arrival, unnecessarily asking if it was alright to dine with me.

I stood there for a moment, a cool chill running down my spine, reminding me harshly that I was alone. The burly, old, and tired men around me glared in jealousy or stared mesmerized with my devine beauty.

This was another tool I had to my advantage, and the obvious advantage that assured my repeated success. Not only did my beauty come in handy during jobs where I had to lure the men away from crowds, but it also came in handy when I wanted something. Suddenly there was a obnoxious squeak of a chair- one turning to me.

"Why not skip dinner with the hore and eat with me sweetie?"

The air in the Inn grew stale, the volume mute, and the regular costumers started to shift uncomfortably in their chairs. I turned to face the man, his face a mask of glee, his eyes a haze from all the alcohol he had consumed earlier. Whether it was my large scar or my malevolent aura, something other than the eire silence gave my intentions away. I took one step, a whisper escaping my evil lips...

"Hore..."

As my foot hit the ground, those around me flinched- the mans smile wavering ever so slightly. Another step- a man ran out the door. Another step- a few boys hid under the table. Another step- his smile vanished- his face almost in punching distance. Another step- I raised my arm.

Another step-

Suddenly, an arm gripped mine, my head swerving sharply around, my hair following like a fan, to see the man, dagger clenched. It was Garrow. The old Inn keeper.

I smiled, loosening my grip and face. "Welcome back!" He said with his usual happy domineer. His voice had a hint of cautiousness, not sure if my smile was fake or benevolent. "Thank you," I smiled, his grip ceasing at once. I may be known as a rich merchant, but I am also known for my punch.

"Dinner will be up soon," he said simply, his eyes on mine as I nodded. So did he.

As he turned to return to the kitchen, so I the coat rack. I eyed the foolish man as I walked past him, grabbing a red jacket off its hanger. I heard him gasp behind me, an evil grin forming on my lips. I turned to him, grasping his eyes with my own, then dropped the mess of coloured cotton to the ground. The silence in that room was so serene, that Emery's steps, as incredibly graceful as she was, sounded like thunder, her words like lightning.

"What is going on? Why is it so quiet?'' Her eyes skimmed the room as she spoke, her intelligent eyes landing on me knowingly. She knew why, she had only spoke to break the horribly eire silence.

I walked to my beautiful Emery, gently reaching for her dainty hand and gesturing the stairs. She smiled, glad at my own.

From behind me I heard scurrying as I was halfway up the stairs. I had half the mind to race after the fool and tie him to a steel chimney when it was this cold outside, just to smell the burnt flesh in the morning, but my mind was too enveloped in Emery's sent. A quick glance confirmed that he was gone,

But there the red jacket lay.
