CHAPTER 1
His lips were the colours of a vintage
sunsets, plump as if filled with life. His
eyes were round, but had an edge that made
the golden specks seem like suns. His skin was
smooth, a car ride on a straight road. It was the
colour of pink joyful paint, mixed with the
innocence of white.
His heart was a a palette, a rainbow too bright.▼▽▼▽▼

COFFEE; IT WAS an obsession taken too far for Violet. She aspired to look into things as a riddle, each and everything being a question with limitless answers; but only one of them right.
And coffee was her daily riddle.
She wasn't exactly sure what had made her believe that coffee was some enchanting mystery yet to be solved, as she was constantly reminded by Marlene. Direct ( and constantly repeated ) quote- "Honestly, babe. It's just a couple of crushed beans put together with some milk and sugar. You don't even pay that much attention to me," And it wasn't true. At least, the last part wasn't.
But maybe just today was the day she was brought to realise just the significance of it. The cafe had lanterns strung up every corner, about to fall down in the most graceful way ever. If hitting customers heads constantly getting hit with a miniature wrecking ball counted as art, Violet would be a professional. It was obviously run by muggles, you could tell from the sheer laziness put into bringing these couches in. She couldn't even get started on the walls. Plants were yet again, an artistic feature but this pathetic excuse of a coffee shop had strung them over the brick walls like garbage bags in an over flowing bin. She sat in the middle of the room, contrary to where your typical protagonist would sit. She liked to be unexpectedly surprising others, however was to shy to ever carry it out as a blunt action. A small book was in her hands, with bent and torn pages that had gone brown. Marlene had insisted throwing it out, as it took up valuable bed space in Violets dorm. Violet would simply argue that Marlene wasn't even allowed to be there, and that would only cause argument between the two lovers. However that would only lead to Violet sobbing, and her isolation somehow blinding the pain that would come to her after dragging herself into the Gryffindor Common Room with sorry words flowing out of her mouth. She couldn't help it. No matter the struggle the relationship, the dread of waking up to it; it was all she had. Lily was caught up in Snape- or perhaps Snape was caught up in her. Alice was spending her days with the blessed Frank Longbottom. Her pain was constant, yet no one could see it.
Coffee was the answer- yes. It had been for a long time, but today especially. Her fingers slowly shut the book, the cursive letters of Pride and Prejudice staring back at her. Letting out a soft sigh, she finished the china mug of coffee in her hands with a short sip, the scent causing her to shut her eyes and inhale one more time. Realising how odd this would look, she quickly placed the cup down and stood up. Her slim fingers grabbed at the rough leather material, slinging the bag over her shoulders and covering her mouth with a short yawn. Christmas was a tiring day of the year, especially if no fun came out of it. Even the shop she sat at was understaffed, the red and green lights blinking on and off. It was, once again, a pathetic excuse for anything that would pass as pleasing in Violets mind. Her arms stretched out, her tire wanting to drop on the floor and take a nap; and not wake up. It was too much stress for a simple 14 year old; one who had forced herself into situations inescapable. It was like travelling into the lions den; and the only path away was the one that led right back. She blinked slowly, bringing everything into focus. Swallowing, she shoved the book and spare sugar into her bag. Adjusting the back of her shoes with a groan, she slowly began walking towards the door with her head down. Constant profanities left her mouth, her shoes annoying the hell out of her. Scrunching up her face, she suddenly collided into a... door? Wall? No, it breathed. Looking up, a sudden twinge of annoyance flooded her chest. Familiar hazel eyes met hers, a surprised look shared between the pair. Neither were exactly sure where they had seen each other, but one was entranced by the other while Violets breath was taken away. No, it wasn't the boy she had funnily enough- fallen into. It was the gorgeous brown eyes of confusion looking into hers. It was the plump rose lips mixed the colours of dreamed of sunsets. It was the mess of dirty blonde hair on a crafted-by-god face. It was like every painting, and every sketch brought to life. A voice brought her back to reality, and she was shocked to see in the corner of her eye that two minutes had passed.
Tragic.
"Uhm, sorry?" The big, wall door guy spoke- confusion slithered in his voice like the obvious smugness of his eyes. Rolling her eyes at the ego vibe surrounding him, she took one last glance at the masterpiece she had the luck of even looking at. Pushing past the now named big, wall door ego guy, her lips breathed in the sweet air of fresh release. Not of the cafe, more rather the captivating scent of the mystery boy.
Both were vaguely familiar. She wasn't exactly sure where she had seen them, or at least the wall man. She wouldn't deny, he was gorgeous too- but not half as breath taking as her new riddle; remus lupin.
