Stay right here and
you won't see the night

PLUMP CHEEKS, PALE face and a golden smile. Everything Violet simply inspired herself to be. One year. Or perhaps you could say three split into two and one by the mere defence of/ coincidentally, the schools most famous boys. Luckily enough, their egos weren't as big as their hearts. But their eyes gave away their feelings, and yet to this day does Violet doubt her relevance. See, interest to her fades unless their flaws add to someone's perfection. It was pity, for the first couple of weeks. If that lasted for weeks, just imagine what it was like in the carriage. For Merlins sake, she was about to get slapped and not do a thing. Embarrassment is one word for it, sheer disgust growing in her heart is the other... two? But much had changed in a year, and her confidence was a hill.

In example for reasons, our dullest joke of them all. Marlene McKinnon. Not one soul had released her violent secrets, or her cheating affair with the man of the snakes. Perhaps it was since the few that knew would never tell no matter how much their souls turned and twisted at the vile thought of even her existence. Or maybe it was because she had learnt herself to tone down, in case somebody's mouth... slipped. That one year had been less physical abuse, and more so the subtle verbal danger that can cause your heart to wrench and shrink into this raisin that is as big as your pride at that moment. There was no proof, and Violets doubt had crossed her mind too much to believe the boys would even think twice about it. Her problems were her own, why would another soul care in any way that benefits her? She was the quite girlfriend of the queen bee.

Peas were quite eventful things. Especially when your mind is on a roll of depressing, reflective thoughts and it's thrown right in the middle of your now potato stained head. Looking across the Great Hall, Violets eyes bore straight into those of the snickering Marauders. An eyebrow raised, and stood up and walked out with an easy frown. Concern was easy to cause in the relentless minds of chaos crazed teenagers, especially by a girl of her history. Even she knew, a fool could even understand her past and be anxious of every breath takes. Care was easy to come across for someone like her, as cheesy as it was. Another thing she was aware of, although for this she wishes she wasn't. Violet didn't want to to be the girl who fell under the title those gave her, the girl who followed the fake rules. She wanted to be Violet, and only the things that followed that.

Running slowly towards the Slytherin Common Room, she ran towards the boys dorms in a hurry. A couple of nickles being spent on a free trip up the stairs wouldn't hurt a soul [Except hers of course, the next time she's visiting Florish and Botts]. Knocking rapidly, Violet quickly realised the Marauders would cause a scene. Wonderful. Just what she wanted. It may have just been a pea, but her cheeky mind had made sure to slip about that one time she cried because her mother glared at her. In her defence, she was 3 while watching her mother [who owns the sharpest eyebrows you would ever see] try on white eye contacts. But that wasn't mentioned. Being greeted by the usual mess of upset, dark hair; she rushed in with her daily giggles. They were enchanting, especially for a boy like Regulus. His contact was limited, as he was seen as dull and boring. He wasn't 100% sure why she hung around. He definitely wasn't complaining, as her face would always be in his dorm for one reason or another. Her smooth fingers. Her eyes that sparkled with delight whenever his rough hands tickled her sides, and the soft laughter that followed. She was a blessing that could leave any time. But morals were one thing he had, and asking a girl with a relationship on the edge of breaking for the last three years out was not something on his bucket list. He had deep thoughts about his future, but even Regulus knew they were of no use. Especially with a girl of innocence and purity by his side, his set future could not be combined with his hearts desires. It was easier that way, for everyone.

Regulus always stopped himself by imagining 20 years from now. Violets deep brown hair would be in a loose, yet neat bun low on the back of her head. Her eyes would be droopy from the constant whining the night before, but alive with spirit and excitement for 6pm when her husband would come home. Their small baby would be sitting on her lap, her muggle antics finally coming to use. The words that escaped her mouth would be something along the sweet lines of 'sweet pea' and 'my little angel'. Her eyes would brighten as the door unlocks, seeing a handsome man at the door with messy hair and a lopsided smile. A husband who wasn't him. And as unfortunate as it was, it was even more cheesy that he didn't care; she would be happy. With him, she wouldn't even be breathing. And he would continue his life being the cause. Attachments weren't his thing, but neither was letting go. So maybe the friendzone was just for him. Plus, it wasn't like her feelings for Marlene ever faded away. They were cute, he never really knew the details of their situation. But what he did know was that it wasn't all that it seemed. He had been told constantly to stay out of it, but a quick smile would get her to shut up and let him do her business.

Before he knew it, her head laid on his stretched out legs. Her hair was a total mess, and gorgeous. It somewhat reminded him of his Quidditch broom, with a bit of conditioner and gloss added. He knew she wasn't half as fragile as she acted to be around those pests, but she was still like a china cup. One slip and it's gone. At least, to him she was. Maybe that's why he didn't enjoy getting attached, he was too cautious of those he cared about. And when he goes over the line of protection, he loses them. Just like he did Sirius, but his brother has been gone for too long for him to even weep about it anymore. Her doe eyes stared up into his, when a blissful noise broke the tense yet comfortable silence that was in the room.
"Why do you stay around?"
He wasn't exactly sure what she meant, especially when irony was a major factor. His head tilted, eyes glancing away. "What do you mean?" He questioned, the words almost sounded like he hadn't meant to let them out his mouth.

Violet had enjoyed the silence, it had given her time to think. About Regulus, about herself, about everything. It was as simple as her wanted to lose focus of reality. When the words left her mouth, it was like she asking herself the question; but more so her answering as him rather than about him. "Well, you know. What makes me interesting enough for you think to yourself, 'Hey, she's cool; lets hang around.' I just don't get it." She saw the look in his eyes, the hesitation to answer. He needed an answer that would please both parties.

"Because you're Violet, and that's all I've ever needed."
