I wandered around for a bit, trying to find somewhere to be alone with my thoughts. But no where proved to be silent. The town was alive and full of lights and noises. As I made my way through the busy streets I saw a small sign, that read “Beacon Boardwalk.” I smiled a bit to myself. This is perfect, where there’s a boardwalk, there’s a beach. I followed the sign to an equally colorfully lit boardwalk. I gritted my teeth, “Man these guys like everything as decked out as possible don’t they?” I muttered under my breath.
I kept walking down, looking for a quiet place, being bombarded with people who were offering me items to buy. I declined by moving faster, seeing a glimmer of hope in the distant strip of deserted beach that I saw. I smiled to myself,” Finally,” I thought,” freedom.” I was nearly to the beach when someone slammed into me from the side.
“Dude, I’m so sorry!” the boy who had ran into me said,” I didn’t see you there!” I stood up and looked at the boy, he certainly didn’t look like he was faking his sincerity. The boy had short brown hair, green eyes, he looked like he couldn’t be much taller than I was. “I’m Percy by the way,” he said extending his hand for me to shake,” sorry I bumped into you.” I shook his hand and smiled,” Ah it’s ok, don’t sweat it,” I said attempting to sound cool,” I’m Jason, I just moved here the other day.”
Percy smiled a bit and I could only wonder what that sly smile had meant. “Then you should meet my friends Logan and Ryan. The three of us are a welcoming committee of sorts here.” I smiled in return,” That would be great,” I lied,” but right now I have to meet a friend, but I’ll see you later I guess.” Wow, Hades is taking an affect on me I suppose. He nodded in understanding,” Sure thing,” he said,” see you at school.” And with that he walked away. Hmm, that’s weird, I never said where I was going to school... Oh well, he probably assumed cause it’s a small town.
I continued to the beach, happy I would finally be at peace. I smiled as I reached the sand, throwing my shoes off and feeling the warm sand beneath my toes. I grinned and went to the shore, sitting down and enjoying the cool breeze as it brushed my face. I let out a sigh and lied back, feeling truly at peace with myself.
I listened closely to the waves, hearing them come closer, then farther, then closer and farther. Then I heard someone sit beside me,” It’s beautiful isn’t it?” they asked. I nodded, not wanting to disturb myself. “Yes, it’s very relaxing,” I said softly. I wanted to open my eyes but decided against it, why ruin the possible connection I could be having.
“So,” they asked,” you must be new here... I’ve never seen you around before.” I smiled a bit and said,” Yeah, I just moved here the other day. I’m Jason Andrews, and you are?” They laughed a bit. Um, that’s weird... “That’s a nice name you have there Jason,” they said,” I’m Peyton Thompson.”
I opened my eyes and saw a beautiful girl. She had long brown hair, green eyes, and an amazing smile. I sat up and looked out at the water, I was trying to find words to say, but I couldn’t think of a single one.
The girl laughed and I cocked my head curiously. “What’s so funny?” I asked. She smiled as turned to look at me, her face only inches from mine. “Well, I know I have that kind of affect on men,” she said with a sly grin and winked as she said,” I hope to see more of you Jason Andrews.” She kissed my check and slowly got up from the sand and walked away.
