Three

-s-

The dinner was surprisingly not too bad. The band were funny and there was never an awkward silence. It was almost comfortable. As if they were all just old friends catching up. That wasn't the case though, obviously.

Annie had been completely fangirling the whole time, bobbing her leg up and down and grinning wildly. Maddie had to fight the urge to laugh out loud at her face, which was going redder and redder every time Seth had spoken to her.

"You're really pretty, you know? I love your hair," Madison had caught him saying whilst he twirled a strand of Annie's dark brown hair on his finger. "It's so. . .brown."

Good one, Maddie thought and rolled her eyes. She had never really liked Seth. He was her least favourite in the band. However, that was only because of the stories she had been told about him taking advantage of his fans. From what she could see, those stories were probably true.

"I just don't want you to get hurt!" Maddie started to explain. "You know what everyone says about him, Annie. He sees a hot girl, fools around with her and never speaks to her again. "

They were sitting on Annie's bed munching on a packet of m&m's they found in the mini bar. Seth had asked Annie out on a date, and despite only having one proper night left in Spain, she agreed.

Madison had a weird feeling about this date and they both had been arguing about it for almost half an hour.

"Maybe that does happen! But, well, I don't care! Mads, this is a chance of a lifetime. Maybe I'm more than one of his little flings. Maybe, just maybe, we'll fall in love and- "

"Annie! You're being so unrealistic!"

"Oh really? You don't see me bad mouthing Finlay and tearing you from your happiness!" Madison had to take a minute, letting the words register in her mind. Is she serious? Doesn't she know the situation is totally different?

"That's not the same thing! I'm not so oblivious to what's going on around me."

"Wow. Low blow, Madison. If you're not so oblivious to what's going on, then why did you not see what was up with Charlie?"

Maddie was growing impatient now. Bringing up Charlie? How is that even fair? She thought. She shook her head a few times and bit her lip, trying to keep the cruel words which were threatening to spill out of her mouth. It didn't work. "You know what? You should be glad I'm looking out for you but oh well, do whatever you like. And if you get hurt? Well, see if I care." She made her way to her own bed and got underneath the blankets. Madison turned the light off and muttered a small "Goodnight" before dozing off to sleep.

Madison had managed to ignore Annie for a further four hours after they woke up before giving in. There was nothing worse than falling out with your best friend, especially on holiday. They both decided to let it slide for the mere future but Madison still wasn't happy about Annie's "date" with Seth Hunter.

Eventually though, Annie convinced her to believe it was worth a try. Although, it wasn't a hard argument. Maddie was way too tired to think of good reasons why not to go.

She picked up her book, slipped on her reading glasses, grabbed her blanket and pillow from the bed and made herself cosy in the corner of the room. After reading the final twenty pages Madison huffed and switched the TV on. The only English Channel on it had an episode of Gilmore Girls rolling and it had just started. How lucky?

Just as Rory kissed Dean and Madison's mind almost exploded with frustration at her bad decision, a knock on the door prevented her from doing so. She walked across the room to the door and opened it, groaning. Instantly when she opened her eyes she let out a surprised gasp.

"Finlay! Oh My...Um-Uh- Hi? What are you doing here?" She blurted out.

"Well, Jude and Eli fell asleep watching SpongeBob earlier on. Although, I don't know how. It's only seven o'clock. Also Seth's out with Annie which means you are also alone-"

"What makes you think I'm alone?" Maddie challenged. She looked at him innocently and watched amused when he tried to come up with an answer. There was no explanation for this sudden confidence. She was really liking it though. It was way better than spluttering out words she didn't even mean at certain times.

"Well, you're in pyjamas and watching Gilmore Girls. So..." He laughed. "Anyways, how's about you get dressed and come with me. I want to show you something!"

Madison stared at him for a little before gathering what he said and excused herself for five minutes. Finlay nodded and she got dressed and then headed out, following him to the mysterious place.

I've decided I'm going to write shorter chapters and then upload once every week instead of every two weeks. I'll most every Sunday. :)
