Luke—
After signing two more books for Rosa and her sister, then exchanging numbers, she had left. I could tell, there was something different about her.
"Wow." Joel murmured.
"I know." I muttered, "You know, even after writing this book, hearing true stories makes my heart hurt."
"We saved a life, Luke." He breathed out, "Its a different feeling."
I didn't have to time to respond before Joel's wife, Moriah, walked up. She smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder and a kiss on his cheek.
"Why does Joel look like he's seen a ghost?" Moriah asked.
"He's surprised that we saved a girl's life about a year ago." I answered.
"Wow." She mumbled, "What happened?"
"This girl, she was depressed after being found in a human trafficking ring. Her sister said that she tried to overdose. Our music saved her." Joel replied.
Moriah grinned, "That's great, honey. Music has power."
Joel gave a slight laugh, shaking his head at Moriah's reference. The reason we wrote Light It Up a few years back. For a friend who was depressed, and that song was his favorite.
I smiled and stood, "Well, I gotta get home. I have to tell my boys goodnight."
"Goodnight, brother." Joel said, looking up at me.
"Goodnight you two."

Soon after getting home, Courtney and I put the two boys to bed. For once, it was silent in our house. Well, except for Ivy's heaving breathing as she slept on the couch.
Courtney laughed quietly as she sat at the table, "Wow. I don't think it's been this quiet since before Jude was born."
I nodded in agreement, "Yeah."
Courtney looked at me worriedly, "What's on your mind, honey?"
"This young girl. I can't stop thinking about her. She was saying something about her sister, and how she was like the characters in our book." I sighed.
"Tell me about her. What she said." Courtney replied, leaning forward.
I pulled the chair out, then sat down.
"This girl was kidnapped at four years old and was in a human trafficking ring. She was found about two years ago, and a year ago she tried to overdose. Her sister said that saved the young girl." I explained.
Courtney smiled, "Hey, that's amazing, love. You're helping people, changing their lives."
"Exactly what Moriah said. I'm gonna try and meet this girl. I want to meet her myself. Give her some free tickets to the movie, maybe even let her into the premiere." I shrugged.
"Just meet her, and go from there, honey." She suggested, "You wanna take it slow with her. She had a different life."
I nodded, "You're right. Of course, Love."
Courtney stood up and came around the table. She stepped behind me and wrapped her arms around me.
She kissed my cheek, "Now, let's go to bed. We can talk more about in the mornin. Surely you're exhausted." She giggled.
"I think I killed my hand," I joked, "I signed so many books."
She laughed, "I love you, Luke."
"I love you too, Courtney." I whispered. This woman was my everything, along with our two boys.
"Alright, I'm going to bed." She kissed my cheek one more time before going upstairs.
I closed my eyes briefly, thankimg God for such an amazing career and opportunities. For all was on him.
"Thank you, Lord." I whispered.
