Roland Orzabal looked up at the rising sun from the cliff he stood on. The light making his shoulder length, dark brown, curly hair shine and the wind blew it gently. Mornings like this were always special to him. Just him and no one else.
Being the Guardian of the Sun wasn't easy, so getting to have sometime to himself was always a good thing. The loneliness didn't last long though. Curt Smith, the Guardian of the Moon, had walked onto the cliff and stood next to Roland. He slowly pulled the other into a hug and kissed his cheek.
Roland giggled from it and said "Hey, Curt."
"Hello, my love." the other greeted back in a quiet voice then kissed Roland's cheek again. This time kissing the corner of the Sun Guardian's lips.
Orzabal giggled again while playfully whining "Curt, stop! I'm losing concentration on rising the Sun."
Smith sighed while growing a frown and said "Fine." Then he smiled. "But the sun's up already so you need a new excuse."
Roland then said "Well, okay. I have to go home and get somethings."
Curt looked into Roland's eyes intently and asked "What kind of things?"
"Just some stuff to help me throughout the day." Roland told him while backing up a bit from Curt and looking away from him. He always did this when Curt looked him. Even though they had been together for about a year now and have know each other way before then, Orzabal still felt the need to act all shy around him.
Curt was getting a bit tired of it and wanted Roland to feel comfortable with looking at him and loving up on him. "Look at me, Roland." Curt said while putting his hand under Roland's chin and pointing it up, forcing him to look into the other's star lit eyes.
Roland started to get warmer more than usual. The cool touch of his hand on his hot skin. The twinkle in his eyes that would always mesmerize him no matter how many times he's seen them. His beautiful short, dark brown hair that curled up a bit on the top. Things he loves about the Guardian of the Moon.
"I want to invite you to a party this evening." Curt stated. "Can you come?" He asked afterwards.
Roland thought about all the things he had to do today. There were so many errands that he had to attended to. First he had to check on the Guardian of Neptune because she had falling ill and it was hard for her to keep the planet's orbit around the Sun stable. Then the Guardian of Earth needed to meet up with him over lunch to discuss how the heat was making all the water go away, but not enough water reached the atmosphere to form clouds to make rain. He even had to check up with the Guardian of the Moon himself to help him change the Moon's appearance. "I'm sorry, Curt... but I have too much to do today."
Curt slumped over a little, but nodded while saying "I understand. The planet's do revolve around the Sun after all." He tried not to show his disappointment. "I thought you would've had the day off though." Curt admitted. "Paul did say that all the Guardians could have the day off while he took care of everything. I guess he failed to tell you."
"Wait, does all the other Guardians know about this?" Roland asked, shocked from the news he had just got.
"Yes. Every single one. Even the Guardian of Pluto."
"He told Greg and not me?"
"Pretty much, yeah."
"And everyone else knows?"
Curt nodded his head in response.
Roland started to feel inferior. The Guardian of the Galaxy didn't bother to tell him he could have the day off. He even worked harder than all of them, except Curt. Him and the Moon Guardian worked at the same level. The only one who works harder than Roland and Curt is Paul. "Well, if everyone has the day off," Roland started saying while reaching out to grab Curt's hands. "I would love to join you at the party this evening."
Curt took Roland's hands slowly into his, intertwining their fingers together and moving close to the Sun Guardian, making their noses touch. "Wonderful." Curt whispered while growing a large smile on his face. Roland cooled down instantly from the cold breath Smith released onto his face.
"Do you still want me to help you with the full moon tonight?" Roland asked Curt. He loved helping with the moon as much as he loved looking out for the sun. The best thing about it was that he got to spend time with his boyfriend.
"Sure, if Paul lets me raise it tonight. The party might also still be going on around that time too."
"Well, I'll meet you when the party starts, which is at?"
"8 o'clock PM on the dot."
"And it just turned 11 o'clock AM." Roland sighed. "I don't have anything to do right now at the time."
Curt smiled and said "Me neither." Curt only had one job. That was to lower and raise all of the moons around the galaxy. Right now, all the moons were where they should be, leaving him the day to just relax. Hopefully, if he could get Roland in the mood, he could spend it with him. He thought of an idea. He closed his eyes and moved down to Roland's neck, slowly kissing it.
Roland giggled from the action. "Woah-oh! Curt!" He laughed out while pulling away from the Moon Guardian.
Curt opened his eyes and started pouting. "Why did you move away? I was having fun."
"We can't do this kind of stuff right now, Curt. Especially outside in broad daylight." Roland had to explain to the confused boy.
"But your neck is so warm! It feels amazing up to my lips!"
"And your lips are cold and feel amazing on my neck, but you can not do this kind of thing in public."
"But, Roland!"
Roland put a finger up to Curt's mouth. "This conversation is over. You're lucky I let you kiss me on the lips out in public." He said in a stern voice.
Smith removed Orzabal's finger from his mouth. "There's no one here though, so technically it is private." Curt argued.
"But it's out in the open so someone can easily walk up here and se-"
Curt got annoyed with hearing Roland talk so he pulled on his sun shaped medallion, causing Roland to get pulled down and lose his balance. Curt ended up catching Roland in his arms and then picked him up bridal style. He laughed. "You're so clumsy, Roland. You gotta learn to be more careful if you're going to dance with me at the party."
Roland didn't respond to what Curt said. He didn't even know how to react being in Curt's arms like this. The strong grip on his back and the soft touch of Curt's fingers that he was able to feel through the thin fabric of his yellow robe made him feel a bit awkward, yet comfortable at the same time.
Curt could sense that Roland felt strange in this position, so he said "I'm just kidding, Roland." while putting Roland back on his feet. Then he looked at the sun guardian. He had some sweat on his forehead and his breathing was a bit shaky. Curt thought that his lover looked a bit sick. "Are you okay?" He asked while putting a hand on Roland's shoulder and the other on his forehead.
Roland looked into Curt's eyes and said "Yeah, I'm fine." He put his head on Curt's chest and said "I'm sorry, but I need to go now." Then he gave Curt a light kiss on the lips then walked away.
Curt watched him go. He almost followed behind, but he didn't. He only stood there. He knew there was something wrong with Roland, but if Roland won't tell him, then he can't help him. And that's as good as it's going to get right now.
