Her words were still echoing in his mind. "I'll wait for you forever, Jay's Wing. " Why couldn't I stay? He could still remember her sweet scent, the shock and pain in her eyes as he named her Stoneteller-- and as he left her once more. He shut his eyes, recalling his confrontation with Rock.
"So much is the same...You can't stay here. You know that, don't you?"
"Why not?"
"You are too powerful to be lost in the past."
"I can be powerful here! I could raise kits, teach them everything I know, and then go back to the Clans. I...I don't want to leave."
I gave up my only chance at a normal life-- at a mate, and kits, and sight... I hope you're happy now, Rock, because I can't be.
