"Angelinia," I called up the stairs to my best friend in the entire universe, "I have a huge scoop for the chief. Wanna come with me," the two of us have worked as informants for the town's detective agency for the past ten years. I scrambled to get my notebook and pens in the messenger bag I took everywhere with me. "I will leave without you Angelinia," I warned as I pulled on my tennis shoes.
"I'm coming, I'm coming," She cried running down the stairs in her usual loose tee and tight jeans rolled half way up to her knees. I smiled and tossed her her favorite hat. Slipping it over her long white hair expertly, she nodded and opened the door. "I'm all set whenever you decide to tag along," she laughed and stuck her tongue out at me.
Excited to tell the chief the most exciting thing anyone could ever hear, I shoved past Angelinia and continued to sprint to the department. I couldn't hear Angelinia behind me, but I knew she was there. I stopped at the department door and caught my breath, regaining my composure before opening the door for Angelinia. "Must be some pretty deep info you've gathered," She huffed, "I don't think I've seen you run that fast since you found a lost puppy," she giggled.
I nodded, "You're not gunna believe how huge this is," I said, ignoring the second part of her statement. I smiled at the guard who nodded, indicating that the chief was indeed here. "C'mon Ange," I smiled mischievously, maneuvering through the halls leading back to the chief's room.
I looked at Angelinia and knocked on the door. "C'mon in girls," Chief Austin called from inside the room. As soon as I opened the door my heart sank, a tall male fairy with large blue and silver wings, dressed in a warrior's uniform was looking at us from the chair across from the chief. "Angie, Ericha, I'd like the two of you to meet Simon, one of the royal knights," the chief said with a wide grin.
"Hi," Ange and I said together. We had never seen anyone like him before, and I was captivated by his simple beauty. Ange was the first one to speak, "Ericha, didn't you have some exciting news for the chief," she nudged my shoulder encouragingly.
"I'll assume you already know, but the prince is coming to our town," I lowered my voice, "to seek refuge," I finished. I looked from the knight to the chief, both of them looked stunned, with their mouths hanging open. "He should be arriving here in a little over an hour," I added, hoping for even the smallest of responses from someone, anyone.
"How did you acquire that bit of information," Simon asked after a momentary pause. He stared at me, waiting for an answer.
"I... um..." I stammered, "I'm not sure, I just know things," It wasn't a good answer and Simon didn't seem convinced. I looked at the chief once more, "I guess I'll see you later then," and turned to leave.
Angelinia followed with a simple, "Later," and a flirtatious glance at Simon who replied to her glance with a huge grin.
I'm sure those two could've talked for hours. What a thought, I mused, Angelinia and Simon,
