Adrianna was seated comfortably on her tattered couch when Caelen came knocking at her door.
"Yes?" Her mother asked, a bottle in one hand and a pack of cigarettes in the other.
"Adrianna." Caelen held his breath, ignoring the peeling wallpaper, the stench and the sickening conditions she was forced to live in.
"Darling, someone's here to see you." Her mother staggered away, dropping the bottle into a nearby laundry basket and biting a cigarette between her teeth.
Adrianna tiptoed towards the door. No one had ever come to see her before, she was too ashamed to show her friends her home.
"Caelen." She breathed a sigh of relief and held her chest.
"We have to go to the rings." His heart softened a little when he saw her, messed up hair and everything.
"Now?" She asked, rubbing her arm uneasily as he watched her intensely.
"Now." He repeated. "There's something you need to do for me."
