Unpredictable Love

It was nine o'clock in the morning. Faruq was in the sitting room with his mother. He was watching Peace Tv channel. It was a peaceful morning. Atlast the girl had calmed down and finally agreed not to injure herself anymore. She had not spoken much to them. She had not even told them her name or her origin even though they had asked several times. She had been crying and it had been difficult even to get her to eat.

But this morning, after a preaching session with Hajiya, she agreed to behave well. She had shown signs of improvement because she had requested to have a bath. She ate very little, and still looked pale and frail. She had promised to join them in the sitting room and Hajiya had left her to put on some clothes she had used for the girl since her arrival. Even as he listened to the sermon on Peace Tv, Faruq wondered what the problem was that could drive this girl to attempt suicide. It was not common in this part of the world for people to commit suicide, and especially not among muslims. He was sure that this girl was a muslim because the day he had rescued her, she was dressed like one. She had been wearing a long gown with a large scarf tied over her head and neck. It was unlikely that a non-muslim would dress that way.

The girl came in just then. She took a seat on a sofa near Hajiya. She was looking better, and now Faruq could see her properly. She was tall and slim. Perharps the stress she went through had been responsible for the weight loss because she was looking really skinny and very pale. She greeted them as she sat down, and Hajiya smiled at her.

"Thank Allah you are getting stronger my child,"she said with much relief.
