The rain is how it starts,
Nothing special, it just falls.
It rains for days on end,
And you wonder if it'll ever stop againThe ditches start to take on water,
Then the roads and then the houses.
Rivers back up,
Water can't drain,
And then it really starts to rain.Water comes in quick,
And everything come with it.
Things that aren't yours,
Come floating up to the doors.
Lawn ornaments and kids toys,
And all your other outside joys,
Simply float away,
Like little lost cast aways. You sit and see how long you can wait,
But you start questioning if the next boat's the one you'll take.
You wade in water to your knees,
And then you go outside and start to see,
The water's not stopping,
And neither's the flooding. You make a quick choice,
To get rescued or leave on your own.
You take your boat,
And see how it goes.
The water is perilous,
And it makes u feel powerless,
But you have to continue,
You have to survive.
